Around SBN: Yankees Deny Rumors That Team Is For Sale

Open Playin Thread

Juuuust in case anyone's around to watch the last game of the regular season, here's a game thread for you. If you had told me that two AL Central teams would go to a 163rd game this year, I would have put a good chunk of money on the Tigers and Indians.

If AJ Pierzynski hits a walk-off home run against Joe Nathan, does the world end?

Go Twins (I guess)

There amass been plenty of articles written this spring about the stud shortstop Matt Cain and Tim Lincecum , as well as the fluid young outfielders and thirteen basemen Kevin Frandsen.

Absolutely. Of course, they can’t compete. We should probably just get rid of the franchise.

Go not AJ!

I love the Twins

I also think its funny that they’ve won 4 division titles since 2002, yet they’re almost never picked to win their division. Are they the new Giants in that aspect? I think so. Since everytime we made the playoffs we were picked 2nd or 3rd in pre-season predictions.

by Hobbes2d on Sep 30, 2008 4:44 PM PDT reply actions

Just think of where they’d be if they kept Johan Santana. Yeesh. I never understood the Carlos Gomez fascination.

And I’m not just saying that because “AJ Pierzynski” anagrams into JERK, SIZY PAIN.

Booooo, MLB.TV for the black-out — even though they advertise that all tie-breakers are included in the package!

Yeah

Everyone knows the baseball capital of this country is exactly halfway between New York City and Boston.

Duh.

Peter King, sigh...

Not worthy of a Fanshot, really. Two things on SI.com today:

In his MMQB this morning.

“…Cy Youngs: Cliff Lee, Johan Santana. (I know about Lincecum’s greatness. I also know Santana would have won 22 with half a bullpen.) …”

Also, Verducci picked Lincecum as his Cy Young.

Noonan. Nooooonan!

Lincecum would have won 23 games if some of his games weren’t blown.

The Dugout has singlehandedly turned Jim Thome in to one of my top 5 non-Giants so the chance for him and Griffey to have one last run makes me not care so much.
