Zito falling in love with himself
Today Barry Zito called the Gary Radnich show to defend himself over Gary criticism. The highlight is when Zito says he's falling in love with himself.

Wow, that was weird
Mr. Zito woke up on the wrong side of bed this morning and decided it was a great time to call Gary Radnich. I’m sure the Giants PR team is thrilled.

I can't stand
how awkward and uncomfortable that conversation is.

You want me to listen to Barry Zito AND Gary Radnich?
What kind of sadist are you???

That was a conversation I could not get through. It was too long and awkward and there was zero reason for it to ever take place.

The interview/conversation got better towards the end. The first part of it was tough to take, I turned it off twice, but all anyone else was talking about was our wonderfully sound economy, so I ended up going back to KNBR.

I'm so confused...
Barry’s falling in love with himself?…why does Gary keep on bringing up the economy?….Did Zito just compare himself to Lincoln?

Uh, weird
Barry’s claim that he was the Lincecum of 6 years ago may be a little inflated, but it’s another reminder of how far he has fallen. I just thought of Zito’s Game 1 ALDS duel vs. Santana a mere 2 yrs ago. I remember how unabashedly excited he was at winning that game, and again it reminds me of how far and how quickly he has fallen. Now he’s so far from the playoffs, he’s got nothing better to do than to call KNBR the day after the season ends.

Yeah, Timmy right now is better than Zito ever was. If Tim takes off for a huge contract somewhere else and doesn’t perform, of course he’ll get booed. Zito just doesn’t get it.

And Radnich...
What does he do between 9 AM and noon again? I think he might’ve mentioned it in the Zito conversation once or twice or 10 times.
(But I did like how he tagged his colleague Michael Urban for the embarrassing Zito suck-ups in all those weekend interviews.)

Zito is delusional.
I’m glad he’s exercised his suck muscle thoroughly this year. It will be stronger next year!

He’s a single guy that has been told he is the center of the universe his whole life. So he has some maturing to do…. I got what he was trying to say. Radnich and co has been ragging for how long? Radnich always pulls his I am a normal guy with kids and after 12 noon I love you ask anyone routine. Well most of us don’t have lunch with you Gary. Apparently Zito doesn’t either.

highlight reel:
“i’ve been to the depths of hell: I’ve been sent to the bullpen” – Barry Zito, 2008
“‘evil’ is too dramatic” — advantage gary radnich if that’s possible
“everybody works their ass off” — you go gary
“my biggest fault was signing this contract…and buying into all this crap.” fuck you, Zito.
“selfishness is something that people underestimate the importance of” — whoa, Zito, holy shit, now way you just said that. Gary’s guffaws are worth listening to.
In Summation, according to Barry Z: If everybody here on teh MCC would just love himself/herself, nobody would care how shitty the Giants and Zito are.

Can’t disagree with him on that.
If I loved myself anymore, I wouldn’t have to time to follow the Giants. I guess he’s got me there.

Stop hating on Zito. So what if he’s falling in love with himself? If that’s what it takes for him to pitch well, then so be it.

what it would take him to pitch is some real talent
which he no longer has
and i will hate on him as much as i want
forget the fact that he cant pitch….he is an airhead

Well, it seems you're not really getting what the problem is with Zito.
He’s just not a very good pitcher any more. Not consistently, at least.
Everything with the guy is mental and he doesn’t have the stuff to be a top-level pitcher now. If anything, it’s questionable whether or not he even has the stuff to be an above-average one.
Hint: falling in love with himself is not going to turn him into a 20-game, sub-4 ERA pitcher again. It’s going to take a lot more than whatever crap he puts in his head.

Maybe if he didn't love himself so much,
maybe if he hated himself a bit more, he might be more motivated to improve himself?

I think it’s just more likely he/she left off some words by accident. I think “who hosts a sports radio show from 9:00-noon weekdays on 680 KNBR” was supposed to come after what he/she typed.
