Random (Deep) FanThoughts, by delorean

  • Arrrgh, the end of the regular season is upon us. I suppose I should be relieved, but it's never easy to say goodbye. Especially when the product on the field gets suddenly and inexplicably watchable (with the marked exception of this last Rockies series).

  • I've had lotsa LULZ and rotsa ROFLs in the gameday threads this year, and I will miss those. I will miss the wit and wisdom of many of the posters here as they turn their attention to "foot ball," a sport (?) about which I know as much as Judy Steffes knows about BASEBALL.

  • I will attend my final game of the season tonight, wherein I will holler at Pablo, berate Manny, and (I hope) catch a bill from Bill Hayes.

  • These things rilly make me wish we had a different, less sucky GM.

  • I can't wait til Spring Training. How many days til pitchers and catchers report?!?!?

Good news/Bad news

After the playoffs, rumor mill season begins. WOO HOO! Which scrappy center fielder will we sign this year? Only time will tell, but we’re sure to be linked to no less than half a dozen. I can’t wait.

I’m sick of baseball and ready for it to end.

But I’ll miss it within a week, I have no doubt.

I’ll definitely miss the gameday threads. My one regret about going to the game on Sunday is that I’ll miss the last gameday thread of the year!

What man? Which man? Who’s the man? When’s a man a man? What makes a man a man? Am I a man? Yes. Technically I am. - FotC

Someday I’ll have to try that… but NOT from the left field bleachers! [which is where we will be on Sunday … Whatsa matter with Manny? He can’t run!"

Left Field Bleachers

Mrs. NVSFG and I will be there to catch the last game. Came in to town on Friday night to eat and wander around. Was hoping that Sunday’s game would mean something, but I’m still thrilled to be going. Got to see three games this season. Zito ( a comeback game win) Timmy at Petco ( a win) and tomorrows Timmy-Day game. Hoping for a win to complete the trifecta.

Look at our roster if we signed these guys, made this trade that the other team would never do, and traded bad contracts!

Ugh. Offseason.

At least we get to experience hope again.

Strange but true fact about "foot ball":

None of the players even touch the ball with their feet! Except some guy called Erstad.

Scott McClain: Great story, no place on the 2009 Giants.

Not the kind you meant, though.

"That's right, it's a soldering iron. The soldering iron of justice."

Then everyone would get real quiet and ashamed, because they made fun of the soldering iron of justice, and I could probably hit them up for a free drink.

If you’re in a war, instead of throwing a hand grenade at the enemy, throw one of those small pumpkins. Maybe it’ll make everyone think how stupid war is, and while they are thinking, you can throw a real grenade at them.

If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.

Anytime I see something screech across a room and latch onto someone’s neck, and the guy screams and tries to get it off, I have to laugh, because what IS that thing?!

Trent Kline: Decentish. Also, my website is called ChatterBalks Dot Com. It's not being updated right now. Hope for more at your own risk.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: “Mankind”. Basically, it’s made up of two separate words – “mank” and “ind”. What do these words mean ? It’s a mystery, and that’s why so is mankind.

Unless

Delorean has taken up stripping and now dances for old men.

My bad

Delorean has always entertained old men with provactive dances!

I can probably blame my poor spelling on the car accident I was in earlier today.

ouch! That’s not the way to start a weekend! Then again at least you are okay enough to be online.

by Merope on Sep 26, 2008 9:28 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, I’m okay and the car is mostly okay. The rear bumper is slightly messed up. The lady who hit me said she didn’t see my brake lights as I was pulling up to a red light with another car in front of me. I guess I missed the memo that says it’s okay to keep going full speed when you don’t need brake lights despite the car behind less than a car length in front of you.

At least my rates won’t go up because it was not my fault.

It's going to be a long, cold winter

I agree with everything you said. Especially points 1 and 2 but on a personal note, I started working in SF a couple weeks ago and from my cube I can see the flags of AT&T Park waving. It’s great to be surrounded by my fellow Giants fans as soon as I step out of the office and onto 2nd street. It’s pretty cool knowing that no matter what happens in the office, relative happiness is only 2 blocks away 81 times a year.

My last game of the season will be Saturday. I’ll be there to say goodbye to JT and the 2008 SF Giants.
