Giants team up with CT again

Tthe Giants have renewed their affiliation with the Conneticut Defenders for another two years, so it looks like Alderson & company will be there next year. It's a shame, as i'd have prefered them go to Carolina instead but they're going to stay put. I don't whether the rumours of them moving away from CT are true or whether we chose to stay or were unable to get another affiliation. What are people's thoughts?

If the Giants and Connecticut are just staying together for the sake of the kids but they keep fighting…

Watch out

Connecticut will sleep with the neighbor’s 17 year old if this keeps up.

Says gregg8370 on the topioc...
their PDC for two years. I guess the MudCats liked the Reds more. At least I won’t have to "learn " another MLBB organization and their players. Anyway what prospects do you think will be coming to Dodd for the 2009 season? Who will be coming back? Yeah I know it’s early but any guesses out there?

Yeah, i think it was probably the case of Carolina choosing the Reds instead of us, as i presumed both teams were prefering to go there

Players slated for CT next year?

That great SJ pitching staff that featured Tim Alderson, Kevin Pucetas, Jesse English and Clayton Tanner should be there.

It’s been rumored that some of the top talent from our Augusta squad, notably Madison Bumgarner and Nick Noonan might skip a level and end up at AA as well.

As for other talent, the best position player on the SJ team was probably Matt Downs. Ryan Rohlinger might stay at AA. Anyone else of note?

San Jose seems like the logical place for him & Posey to start, but whether they does or not, is another matter. I’d imagine there’s a good chance both might play at AA at some stage of the season.

Yep, Greg...

You should see a lot of our top prospects at one time or another this year. I just hope they provide an exciting season for you guys there, for a change. Especially if it’s, like, the last one there or whatever…

Maybe Dodd Stadium is about to become the first AA park to be converted to a retractable roof domed stadium. That’s the only explanation I can think of.

Or hopefully..

They’ve put the outfield wall on wheels so they can bring it in during the Spring.

Good news for the CT fans

They should get a competitive team next year, and likely in 2010 as well (assuming the Giants don’t continue to call up every remotely promising prospect straight from single-A).

Tomayto, tomahto

You say “rebuilding”, I say “flailing”…

Just to clarify: bringing up Schierholtz, Romo, Ishikawa etc. I don’t consider flailing. Calling up the likes of Bocock, Rohlinger, Denker, and Burriss from AA and below are the moves I call flailing, even if Burriss happened to rise to the opportunity.

Does EME return to CT?...

It would be season #4 (sort of, given his injuries) in Double A??

I am not sure why they would do that unless to hold a roster spot for the cold month or so in the seasons beginning.

Yay! If we get a chance to visit my mother-in-law in CT during the season, maybe I’ll get a chance to see Bumgarner or Alderson. Mmm.

Wow...just wow.

I’d note that Carolina still has not officially announced their affiliation with the Reds, which puts a shade of doubt on them choosing the Reds.

This really did not seem like a match that would continue, and now the eye is on whether or not the team will stay in Norwich after 2009. (note Evans mention only looking forward to 2009 in Norwich.)

That said, the Defenders have a very good shot to have a number of top prospects in the system in the next two years. 2009 should feature a powerful rotation starring Alderson, maybe Bumgarner, along with Pucetas, Tanner, Snyder and maybe Jesse English. The offense is more up in the air, but both Buster Posey and Conor Gillaspie are possibilities, along with some good role guys in Matt Downs and Mike McBryde, both of whom are underrated. 2010 could also have Bumgarner along with Henry Sosa and an offensive core including Villalona, Neal, and Noonan.

Well, at least I have a couple more years to have fun at the Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods when I go out and visit. Plus, some of the best minor league fans out there for reports on our guys in Greg, Hondo, and the other Connecticutians (Connecticutees?) that are out there.

English

What is Jesse English’s status at this point? He was in the 2002 draft so this was his 6th professional season. Is he now at the point where if he’s not put on the 40 man (which he surely won’t be) he becomes either a minor league FA or eligible for the minor league Rule V draft?
