Schierholtz, Bowker, Misch, and Espinelli have been recalled. Still no Denker. Did he piss in Sabean's cereal or what?

The Giants should have called him up and then they could have almost fielded an entire infield with second basemen.

3B – Denker
SS – Burriss
2B – Velez
1B – Ochoa

Baggs’ explanation made sense to me. Where’s Denker gonna play? Makes more sense for him to play e’ery day, to me.

isn’t the season in Fresno over?

My kid didn’t get invited to the party. :(

Travis Denker can hit a little. That's why I drive his bus.

the point still kinda stands, though. The kid wasn’t gonna get any at-bats.

Lately, they’ve been benching Ochoa and starting Burriss at SS for the most part – so a Velez/Frandsen platoon at 2B seems perfectly reasonable to me.

no argument here

I like his bat a lot more than [insert rookie middle infielder’s name here]. But just as it was dumb for the front office to pull the plug on Denker as quickly as they did, it would be equally dumb to do the very same thing with Velez/Ochoa/Burriss.

I don’t really agree as far as Ochoa is concerned. He was in the minors for several years and was never particularly good. His career minor league OPS barely cracks .650, and that’s after two years in the PCL.

And he’s better than Bocock, so he has that going for him!

Ochoa at SS is ok (but not as nice as Burriss), Ochoa at 2b is a waste of time.

Still, I understand not calling up Denker, it just disappoints me.

Because he can hit a little!

I have to agree with this.

Seriously Ochoa is basically a place holder tell Burris ( or someone else) gets their game more developed. Ochoa could prove to a reasonable back up M.I. guy down the road. There are counter arguments for Ochoa’s minor league stats . One is he was switch hitter tell this season so he has had a major rework of his hitting recently. And another is he is one he is only 25. He still might improve more.

All that said I am surprised Denker is not up and getting Ochoa’s starts at 2nd while things don’t matter that much and it does not cost roster moves. Plenty of time next spring for Ochoa to get reps in at 2nd for substitution purposes.
