Around SBN: The Ten Worst Swings Of The 2011 Season

Dudes:

And but so, raise something to toast the all-too-short life of the most brilliant writer I ever had the pleasure to read, DFW.

The passages of this world will be a little harder to negotiate without him.

So very very sad.

I’m not one of those people who gets all busted up over the passing of someone I didn’t know, but this profoundly affected me. DFW is one of my all-time faves, and I’ll no longer be able to look forward to reading his next book. A major loss to all who love numbers and words.

You will be missed.

DFW's article about Roger Federer

in the NY Times Play Magazine was the best piece of writing about a professional athlete ever—essay, article, book or otherwise. Even if it had been the one and only thing he’d ever written, DFW’s place in the pantheon of great writers would be secure. A big loss, indeed.

RIP Hijack..

RIP Richard Wright. Great Gig in the Sky is one of the greatest instrumentals ever.

Summer ’68 is one of my five favorite Pink Floyd songs.

RIP to DFW as well. :(

I was shocked and saddened to hear DFW passed. Brief Interviews With Hideous Men is one of my favorite books. You were taken too early.

"While conservatives tell you 'leave things alone and no one will lose,' and liberals tell you 'interfere a lot and no one will lose,' baseball says 'someone will lose.' Not only says it - but insists upon it! ... Democracy is lovely, but baseball's more mature." BVCE supports SF Dugout and Manny Burriss.
