Also, I’m starting to wonder if Bochy seriously refuses to play Sandoval, Ishikawa, and Schierholtz all at once.

You have to have some veterans in the lineup. The Padres are in a pennant race. Right?!?! Right?!?!

Gasp!

A Schierholtz! They do exist!

There amass been plenty of articles written this spring about the stud shortstop Matt Cain and Tim Lincecum , as well as the fluid young outfielders and thirteen basemen Kevin Frandsen.

I just hope Bochy lets Lincecum go at least 1.2 innings today. The way he’s so careful with these kids all the time, I can never be sure.

My Dave Righetti is better than your Dave Righetti.

Lincecum has some support nationally for the NL Cy Young Award. ESPN’s Buster Olney and Chris Singleton both pick Lincecum. Today on FOX’s regional game Braves-Mets, Mark Grace picked Lincecum and Grace is the color guy for the Dbacks. He didn’t pick his own guy, Webb.

Lineup from Baggs

CF Winn
RF Schierholtz
1B Sandoval
C Molina
3B Aurilia
LF Bowker
2B Velez
SS Vizquel
P Lincecum

No Ishikawa at 1B and Sandoval at 3B, could be he’s being punished for his baserunning mistakes or perhaps Bochy really is playing up MLB.com’s story that we’re going to steal a lot against Young and Aurilia has more career steals than Ishikawa does.

Also, Bowker in LF, how is he there? I only saw him play RF earlier in the season and don’t know if he’s played LF a lot this year or not.

I haven’t seen him in LF either, I don’t think, but there seems to be come CW that he’d be a better left fielder than right fielder.

Past 2 years..

102 in RF
24 in CF
23 in LF

Center? I didn’t think he played CF. Is that just a baseball-reference anomaly?

Yea..

that’s where he’s listed. But he actually played there? I was kind of under the impression he wasn’t all that great of a corner outfielder, and usually that turns into bad centerfielder.

Don't want to have him injured...

Like in my Baseball Mogul game…I only had Rajai Davis to play CF. And he was batting like .170 so I traded Tyler Walker for Cody Ross, and ended up just playing Lewis there.

Pretty much.

There is a play by play “action” but there’s no real controling the players other than the odd “Do you want to go for an extra bag? Y/N” message. Basically you’re controlling the team as the general manager and manager.

by rotorueter on Sep 13, 2008 6:17 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Well there's your answer

We can’t do that again. That would embarrass the Padres, and not embarrassing the Padres is our top priority.

by groug on Sep 13, 2008 6:18 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

In the imaginary world where I'm in charge, the lineup would be:

1) Randy Winn CF
2) Emmanuel Burriss SS
3) Travis Ishikawa 1B
4) Pablo Sandoval 3B
5) Bengie Molina C
6) Nate Schierholtz RF
7) John Bowker LF
8) Travis Denker 2B
9) Tim Lincecum P

I am in favor of playing as many kids as possible at this point.

Dead in a ditch for all we know.

I wonder if he hit on Sabean’s wife while he was up earlier this year. I can’t figure out why else he doesn’t get called up, especially now that Burriss is out.

Wait, when I made up my imaginary lineup, I forgot Burriss was hurt. Oops!

I’ve already proposed a fantasy world in which I’m in charge of the Giants’ roster AND lineup – it’s not THAT much more of a stretch to think that I can also heal injuries with my touch.

And I could heal with a touch, Lewis would, of course, be in the lineup instead of Bowker. Put him at #3, drop Ishikawa to sixth and Schierholtz to seventh.

Sandoval

It’s more that Bengie Molina is hitting in the 4th spot behind people who get on base and occasionally driving them in, while Lewis is batting leadoff. Were he to hit 4th he’d have many more RBIs.
