Yes, no more Rockies announcers.

Or any

of them. Scully’s the only one I never mind listening to. The rest can go run up a tree.

Best news I got all year.

..so allow me to present Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain as two sweet, sweet bottles of warming hooch.

You guys think there’s any chance you can watch the away broadcast when your home broadcast is blacked out?

Now that would make me happy. (not that this doesn’t)

Probably not, right? If it’s blacked-out, isn’t the game supposed to be on TV?

by satyricrash on Sep 11, 2008 4:24 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

My dream scenario is that the blackouts are because MLB can’t pull viewers away from whoever has the TV rights for the Giants’ broadcast that day.

But the away broadcast obviously wouldn’t be available on TV here so maybe it’d be available?

I really doubt it but as a non-cable owner I really hate these blackouts where I have no other options.

Well, in a dream world, they would realize that in 2008 it makes no sense to block out any game, wether you are across the street from the ballpark or in Siberia.

I can see where they could actually make you watch the home broadcast in some cases. It would make sense since I am in the Diamondbacks and Rockies areas (in the middle of New Mexico? I actually get the Rangers’ games on television) making me watch those broadcasts. I can see where they would do this if the could know that I should get the commercials for those games and people elsewhere shouldn’t. I just don’t see the owners loosening up the broadcast restrictions anytime soon though.
