Giants (season) team age: 27.1
see that! we ARE A YOUNG TEAM! I think that we also have had the most rookie players of any team. (Athletics #2). So, despite common belief, we ARE young! The only veterans (I count those over 33) with a SLG below .400 are Vizquel, Winn (still ripping .288 though),and Roberts. By the way, only Winn has played the whole year. Roberts just got called up, while Omar is now held to 2 gms a wk. This is what I call a 'youth movement"

Before the trade deadline, the average age of a Giants at bat was something like 30.5. The pitchers skew the team age averages younger. It hasn’t been so bad since the trade deadline.
I don’t really see how there could be a more in depth analysis than what I just wrote.
(P.S. I love FanPosts that address this community like we’re a bunch of KNBR callers. Nobody here would have ever said that this team is old. At worst, we’ve said the starters are old. And we were right).

it takes some time to get caught up with how things are around here. but it’s a good thing that people are interested enough to sign up and hopefully expand their breadth of knowledge and analytical skills.

Oh I agree with that, and I don’t mean to sound like I’m bashing on the new guy. If I did sound that way, it wasn’t my intention. I’m just critical anytime anybody says something that we all agree with as though we’ve been disagreeing with it all along.

33+? AND < .400 slugging?
what does <.400 slugging have to do with the age of the team? Did you want to say that if their slugging is above .400 they are contributing more or something?
Next lets do how many left handed pitchers the giants have with an WHIP under 1.35, that will help us determine how lefty biased the team is….
don’t just intertwine two statistics just for the sake of a post.
BTW Bengie and Aurilia are both hovering around .410 slugging, but i guess that extra tenth of a base per at bat makes them our contributing vets.
