Does MLB Power Pros count? :) I need to get the new game and do some roster editing. Plus I need to create a mini Mays for the game.

On all my games
I try to reproduce the Giants roster by either trading for players or creating the ones that didn’t exist at the time the game was made (which is a lot when you play MVP ‘05). Can you believe Aurilia is not in that game? Did he get shunned out of baseball for a short period of time, or what? I still can’t explain it.
And no, I haven’t played in a while so I thus haven’t reproduced this years’ roster. Thank God.

Yes he is.
Can’t remember which team (my PS2 isn’t hooked up, or I’d check), but he is.

Right now..
i’m about a month into simming a complete game by game sim in Baseball mogul of this year’s team. No trades thus far, so basically my lineup is this…
C-bengie
1B-Ishikawa (Aurilia got injured, was going to be Ortmeier’s job to have but Ishikawa had a few good games and he’s continued.
2B-Durham/Velez (pretty much a 50/50 platoon)
SS-Omar/Velez (I know, but he’s not that bad in the game at it)
3B-Castillo/velez (This way velez is getting almost full playing time. Probably will be reduced int he future)
LF-Lewis/Roberts (Lewis is on fire so he’s playing more.
CF-Rowand
RF-Winn/Lewis
Got Noah Lowry back and he’s pitched a few good games for me already. Otherwise Zito is bombing, but as is Correia. Hennessey had a sub 1.00 ERA so far as well.

You can find roster updates or custom rosters pretty easily, so if you’re not too interested in some of the new features of ‘09, you can play that.

do you play it pitch by pitch?
or do you sim entire seasons?
(I see that you can do it pitch by pitch, I’m just wondering how most folks play it)

I used to, but after one season, it got way too tedious. Now I just sim day by day.

Yeah, I sim day by day… but I play the playoffs pitch by pitch because I find it to be more fun to lose in the playoffs because I’m sucking than to lose because of an unlucky sim.

Lineup:
Uribe
Mitchell
Leonard
Maldonado
Clark
Brenly
Chili
Thompson
Bench:
Spilman
Speier
Aldrete
Youngblood
Entire pitching staff:
Krukow
Reuschel
Garrelts
Robinson
Some people say to sub Spilman for Robby Thomson, but I can’t bring myself to do it….
by Grant on Aug 7, 2008 5:01 PM PDT 0 recs
I always subbed Aldrete for Uribe. I know that makes it more unrealistic but I’m not going to risk losing to Mike Witt and the Angels.

PH Aldrete for Uribe, and PH Spilman for the pitcher the first time he comes up in a high-leverage spot.

My MLB2K8 team
My team is basically still the same, except I made a minor trade for Dallas McPherson to play 3B. I also dumped Omar and Roberts. I’m playing on some really realistic custom sliders and I’m ten games below .500. Rowand leads the team with 8 HR (less than he has in real life!)
Lincecum would be running away with the Cy Young if the team could score any runs for him. He’s 6-7 with a sub-2.00 ERA. Correia is actually my winning-est pitcher despite an ERA above 4.00.
This game was terrible before the patch, but I’m really enjoying it now. I try to keep even with the real schedule, and I force trades that happened in real life (pitching to Manny on the Dodgers sucks).

Im playing MLB 08 the show, you cant change the roster when your doing the road to the show feature so roster is what it is minus castillo because they signed after game came out. The team is still weak at third and my 20 + homer third baseman cant break into the bigs! Crazy.
I'm young but i didn't fall off the truck yesterday!

I did a fantasy draft in MLB 08 the show and my team looks like this:
C: J.R. Towles
1B: Prince Fielder
2B: Dan Uggla
SS: Dustin Pedroia
3B: Mark Reynolds
LF: Curtis Granderson/Lastings Milledge
CF: Grady Sizemore
RF: Josh Hamilton
Tim Lincecum
Matt Cain
Jamie Shields
Zack Greinke
Jonathan Sanchez (well, I had to keep them together)
bullpen is mostly meh guys, I’ve got Wood and Zumaya in there.
Matt Cain: He'll save children, but not the Dodger children.

I have the feeling that in eight years, Messenger is going to show up somewhere and say, “Oh hai, I’m Doug Brocail or Tim Worrell now”, and pitch six or seven solid relief seasons as he kicks around the league.
I also have a stronger feeling that I’m glad the Giants didn’t wait around for that.

I wouldn't mind upgrading to a new baseball game
I love MVP ‘05 but the rosters are just plain old. Does anyone have any opinions as to the MLB 2K or MLB The Show games, and how they compare to the awesome MVP games? (Why did they have to go to college baseball, damnit!?)
STEVE HOLM: Better than Alfonso? Why yes, of course.
by UnleashTheGore on Aug 8, 2008 11:38 AM PDT 0 recs
nothing compares to MVP
exclusive licensing is a pain in the ass. I can’t speak to “the show” but 2k8’s gameplay is pretty horrendous in comparison. I’m not sure what MLB was doing by selling their exclusive video game license to “the other” company but it hasn’t worked out well. MVP 05 was probably the most solid baseball game I’ve played. 2k on the other hand, seems to be riddled with glitches, a sketchy frame rate, and just an overall lack of fluidity. If you’re rocking the xbox it’s your only choice for a baseball game but I’d try to look elsewhere if you can.
