Garrett Broshius Blog Entry: Sandoval

Star-divide

I just stumbled across a blog entry penned by Garrett Broshius at sportingnews.com. Posted on August 5th, he singles out the players he thinks are the best prospects in the Eastern League. According to Broshius, the best hitter in the league is 19 year-old Fernando Martínez of the Mets, followed by the Blue Jays' Travis Snider and Pablo Sandoval. Quoting Broshius, Sandoval is "a ball of energy with a strong arm and a good glove. And he can flat-out hit from both sides of the plate. He single-handedly made us a much better team when he arrived". He also mentions three pitchers: Masterson, Carrasco and Kunz.

If interested, you can e-mail him at gbroshuis@sportingnews.com.

Broshuis's blog

It’s easy to get to Garrett’s blog (always worth reading) by clicking on the Greg’s CT Defenders link on the McC start page and using Greg’s link to the blog. GB does a new entry every two weeks or so. Unfortunately, it’s hard to see him advancing much beyond AA, which he is repeating this year. He seems like a thoughtful guy and might make a good coach if he wants to stay around baseball, but he probably has all the tools to make a much better living elsewhere.

He’d make a good sportswriter. He writes well and has a quick wit and obviously knows more about the game than the rest of us slobs who write about baseball.

"While conservatives tell you 'leave things alone and no one will lose,' and liberals tell you 'interfere a lot and no one will lose,' baseball says 'someone will lose.' Not only says it - but insists upon it! ... Democracy is lovely, but baseball's more mature." BVCE supports SF Dugout and Manny Burriss.

I was going to ask if that is ghostwritten at all

if not, that is excellent work. Hell, even if it is that is pretty darn impressive.

Of course, it would be more impressive if he could do that and strike out 2 guys an inning.

He was a psych major in college IIRC, or at the very least studied it and liked it. I recall him writing something about taking psych stuff at Missouri. Psych peeps are no dummies.

But I guess here it’s more of a what have you done for me lately thing.
