It’s hard to feel bad for long. We don’t need wins. The team showed some fight which is promising for next year. The youngsters got some hits. And I don’t mind seeing Cincy get some wins at home. They’ve had a long year and, as a good baseball town, deserve a little fun. My late father, who grew up there but ended up in the Bay Area, couldn’t get away fast enough because it’s so damn conservative.
Yes and no...
My grandfather (born in 1888) grew up in Cincinnati and was a big Reds fan. So I think I feel similar about the Reds to the way you do. They’re one of a very few teams I don’t hate, and actually like a little bit.
And yes, the Giants battled back and made a game of what for all intents and purposes seemed like a lost cause early on.
But any hope I might have in a promising future is repeatedly undermined and quickly choked out when I think about the galactically stupid Bruce Bochy and the mind-bogglingly dense Brian Sabean continuing to run things.
