Sandoval cartoon from South Korea
Originally, it's not a cartoon for Pablo Sandoval but for the South Korea Olympic baseball team. And that part was for Daeho Lee who Korean Prince Fielder. (Nobody knows his LBS)
I was inspired by that part, so I did some Photoshop works. I know some fans who live in United States, remember those style of painting by Choi Hoon.
I dedicate this one to Sandoval and his very first HR in the Majors. Congrats, Meatwad !
*The part of original cartoon, is HERE and full ver. is HERE.

But just another reminder that I need to learn Korean already so I can understand the KBO strips he does.

Yeah one of my best friends is Korean and she keeps telling me it’s a bitch to learn. Not so much the characters and verbs and that, but the pronounciation is what she says kills non-native speakers.
I gotta learn Spanish first anyway. Though the Korean courses at De Anza College in the South Bay are so tempting…

That’s what I feel for English. lol
English is too hard…
Giants the never sunset.
English is stupid. It’s a poorly constructed language with dumb rules. Japanese is probably the easiest language I’ve studied in terms of just understanding how it works. Although the stuff with adjectives in nihongo sort of threw me…

english is a germanic language that tries to use latin grammer rules. It is nearly impossible to match the two, yet we still try.

Keep studying Japanese. Of the languages I’ve studied (three of them lol) I enjoy Japanese the most.
Refresh my French
Learn Spanish
Learn Korean
Learn Dutch

English. I count that as a language studied, because I learned its structure, verbs, grammar, and usage.

Got it. How hard is Japanese? Can you read/write/speak reasonably well?
..so allow me to present Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain as two sweet, sweet bottles of warming hooch.
I can read it better than I speak it. I only took a year’s worth of lessons at college but my prof was fantastic and he really drilled the mechanics of the language into us. Like I mentioned the only thing that really tripped me up so far was the adjectives and how they have tenses, so to speak. It’s hard to explain it mostly because I still don’t understand it.
True story though: when I speak Japanese it comes out sounding French. It’s the weirdest friggin’ thing. I don’t even have a French accent when I speak French!
It’s challenging, but not difficult, at least to me. If you are passionate about language study you’re more likely to make it work. And from the looks of your list, you are passionate! Good call on Arabic. It looks difficult to write but I’m sure once you get it down it’s nothing.
Oh and if you know any Spanish at all, the verb sounds in Spanish and Japanese are exactly the same. So that should help you.

japanese
writing, at least adult writing (Kanji) is very difficult. They had a perfectly good spoken language, and bolluxed it all up with Chinese characters. Note many chinese words = 1 meaning 1 syllable 1 character. Not so many single syllable Japanese words.
FIRE BRIAN SABEAN
Even the kanji wasn’t that difficult to me. It’s not to say I’m a perfect calligrapher with it, but the characters I learned stuck in my mind, and damned if I can’t write them all to this day.

That’s good to know. Spanish should probably help me with Italian, too. And Italian should help me with French.
My plan
1) Learn Spanish
2) Learn Japanese
3) Learn Italian
4) Learn French
5) Learn Arabic

Oh, I almost forgot
6) Profit!

It’s easy mode IMO. Took it for three years at Lowell and didn’t study, do HW or really do any of the things associated with learning besides showing up to class. So if you put some effort into it, it shouldn’t be difficult.
The writing isn’t too hard. Learning the characters is the most work intensive part. It really helps if you know Chinese characters because the majority of the characters are taken from Chinese.
As for speaking, the pronunciation is very simple for “baseline” Japanese. Once you get into regional dialects like kansai-ben or “Ye Olde” Japanese it gets kind of strange (at least to me).
Just as a reference, three years of “study” have gotten me to the point where I now do translation for Gintama (an anime that is notoriously difficult to translate, mostly due to obscure cultural references).
Still in despair.

The writing was actually the easiest part, once I got over the feeling of learning to write all over again. For a while it felt like kindergarten with the big pencils and my characters were misshapen and all over the place.
Then when I saw my prof just lazily write his characters on the board I felt better about my own penmanship. He said basically as long as the stroke order is correct and you have all the stuff there, it’s okay.
My prof is was fun because he would tell us stories and stuff, and get sidetracked. Once he told us about seeing a well-respected Japanese author speak at UC Berkeley, which turned into a discussion on postwar Japanese lit, and that all began from a question on dead characters in hiragana and katakana such as the characters for the sound we. I got ideas for reading material out of it, and I picked up Confessions of a Mask by Yukio Mishima. Man that guy was fucked up. But a good read.
