Im feeling Randy!.... and Bengie too
ok ok enough of the nonsense!
I have been on the fences with randy winn for months. One day I say he is an average overpaid RF, then the next day I say him as a guy who can hit for aveage and field like no other off those archways. So how does every1 feel like randy winn.
Trade
OR
Keep
My final answer is too.... TRADE
I would offer him up for a kelly johnson type player or a nice ss.... ben zorbrist? I mean the rays and randy can reunite!
Now time for Bengie. Yes he is getting up there in age, but i can say for a fact that he is a steal! At about 6 million a year the guy can field and can flat out hit. Not to mention his clutch meter is off the charts!
Trade
OR
Keep
My final answer is too.... KEEP
He can mentor Pablo and maybe Posey can come up next year and learn for on of the Best!

I definitely say trade Randy. He has been playing well, but the Giants could use the extra roster spot (and playing time) for a younger player, and Winn must have some trade value. That makes it clear cut.
In regards to Bengie, it all depends what he could get in return. If the Giants could manage to get a young guy who has clear potential to be a league average position player (or better) for years to come, I say you make the trade immediately. On the other hand, it may not be wise to trade Bengie for a package similar to what we got for Durham.

Randy Winn: Trade. We’ve got Aaron Rowand in center of course, but for the corners we have Fred Lewis, Nate Schierholtz, and John Bowker who could be major league players. Freddy has pretty much proven himself to be a good player so it’s probably between Schierholtz and Bowker. One of them can hold down RF next year.
Bengie: Keep. My choice isn’t really a mentor type thing, but Pablo can play 1B against lefties in place of Bowker/Ishikawa, play 3B 1-2 games a week and C 1-2 games a week. Then he’ll get quite a few at bats and can also get some catching experience in, and 1B/3B if he moves there because of Posey. He can also learn from bengie a bit. I’m also in the camp of offering Bengie arbitration next year. We either get a pick out of it or get a moderatly priced backup catcher. Bengie would probably turn it down anyways if he knew it was a backup catcher role.

What base?
I think you made that up.

We could do a fall TV hijack. What we watch, what we don’t watch, what we would never admit to watching even though we love watching it in our mom’s basement…

Big Shots was mine, until it unfortunately got cancelled. I thought it was a very smart show, albeit a bit melodramatic. Plus I think Dylan McDermott is a very underrated actor.

American Idol
An old girlfriend got me watching it a few years back and I haven’t been able to put down the pipe. I guess admitting I have a problem is the first step.
Zooperstars, they quack me up!
The Shield
love that show, and this last season promises to be fantastic, and of course The Simpsons.
Now that Deadliest Catch and Survivorman are over, I guess that’s it for this year. Unless somebody gets it togeather and televises winter league games. You’d think with all the trash on Comcast Sports Bay Area during the winter they could show some baseball.
I know I’m not the only one who doesn’t think that Bengie either hits or defends all that well. Amazingly, though, he does have very favorable career “clutch” splits.
I’d actually be for trading Molina. It would leave us in kind of a black hole with Sandoval getting thrown to the wolves, but if we can get anything of value (you know, the usual caveat) back for an aging, fatting, hacking, meh defensive catcher… however much I like him as a player (I like his career, not his decline) and a person… I just don’t see how I wouldn’t be happy with that.
It’s not like we can’t sign a marginal catcher in the offseason to give Pablo some breathing room, anyway.
Who these magical players are (the valuable return and/or the marginal catcher), I do not know… so take everything I’ve said before this point with the usual “that would all be well and good if we knew these magical players actually existed” grain of salt.
My Dave Righetti is better than your Dave Righetti.
We have a marginal catcher or 3 already
Holm at the top of the list probably.
Fred Lewis can stand under my umbrella.

I’m not at all for the idea of trading Bengie and thrusting the position into Sandoval’s hands next season. I’d love for Pablo to succeed, and I think the way he has the best chance to do that is to let him mash at AAA to start the year and call him up June-ish. I mean, Bowker started off his ML career blisteringly hot too, but that doesn’t mean that he’s ready for the bigs yet. No need to rush Pablo.
But Winn? Trade him, as long as it’s not just a salary dump. I’m not saying we should ask for a great prospect, but dude’s pretty good. We shouldn’t just dump him to save a few million dollars that’ll just go in to the pockets of the owners anyways.
