2008 San Francisco Giants Statistics and Roster - Baseball-Reference.com
The chase continues: 31 games left, and the team is only one home run away from the all-time single season record! It would be a major upset if the record does not fall.
The Giants have a chance to blow away the old record, though, as they're only 28 home runs from 100. Can they do it? Can the Giants crack the century mark for the season? The Olympics had nuthin' on this chase.

I wonder how many homeruns Barry would have hit in 2001 had he gotten 5500 or so at bats.
Only 849 games until the end of Zito's contract
Factor in all the IBB and that would have been a monster number.
Wow, I sure miss this now mythical homerun by a Giants player.

Another mark: Will any Giant player reach 15 HR’s for the season?

it's the groudthink you gotta watch out for
"While conservatives tell you 'leave things alone and no one will lose,' and liberals tell you 'interfere a lot and no one will lose,' baseball says 'someone will lose.' Not only says it - but insists upon it! ... Democracy is lovely, but baseball's more mature." BVCE supports SF Dugout and Manny Burriss.

groudthink >>>> grougthink
that’s all you need to know.
Randy Winn cannot play third base. Randy Winn cannot play third base. Nate Schierholtz, Giants 3B of the future! Randy Winn cannot play third base.
Damn, I was hoping I was only three Greater Than signs down.
Rough one.

Buck up: I’m pretty sure you’ve got ButtPeethink beaten pretty handily.

Dunno
Butt Pee’s outside-the-box thinking on Tyler Walker playing third really opened some eyes.
Billy Hayes: His job is better than yours.
If one chubby man can play third, so can another!
LOGIC!

Yeah, but nobody wants Butt Pee doing anything outside of the box.

The grougthink is that dingers are sweet.
I can’t speak for the groudspeak, but he usually disagrees with me.

I’m waiting for jponry’s opinion, and I’ll probably piggy-back on that.

rainman will wait until baseball people come to a consensus, and then agree with that.
But not in a groupthink.

Not in a groupthink way.

It’s your own fault for thinking about your posts before you write them and making coherent points and stuff. Take a cue from howie and me. Just be stupid all the time, and the pressure will go away.

Remember howie’s early days? He didn’t start out as one of the great ones, but with dedication, he really stepped up his game.
I believe in you!

I would register as Outside The Box Thinking to respond to this, but I’m too lazy.

You say it's because you're too lazy...
…but I know you’re just waiting to see what everyone else thinks of the idea.
Like Barry Zito, I'm mildly half-OK.
The first time I clicked the link, I got “Browser can’t open that website,” and I thought that SFG/2008 had broken the internet.

To be serious for a second
The chances of the Giants hitting 28 HR’s in the 31 games is extremely slim.
If the team does, there is a significant chance that they also manage to win a significant # of those games( imagine the boost in run scoring), and could as a result play themselves dangerously close to .500
Eugeniooooooo!!!!
The Giants hit about 1 HR per loss this season. So if they lose the rest of their games, they’ll break 100.

That is some impeccable logic! I had not considered this approach to thinking.
