San Diego Padres at San Francisco Giants, Aug 24, 2008 1:05 PM PDT
You'd have to think Correia is auditioning for a rotation slot next year. There are actually a few decent short-term free agents this offseason, so these last few starts might be the difference between the Giants sticking with Correia or going with short-term deal on a guy like Paul Byrd.

Really?
You think Sabes would pick up a one year deal? What about Lowry coming back? Tim, Matt, Dirty, Noah, Barry.
by KingofDucks1987 on Aug 24, 2008 11:32 AM PDT reply actions
There’s no harm if the pitcher is cheap. Counting on Lowry is way too risky. If we end up with too much pitching, we can bolster the bullpen or trade someone.
Yup. Counting on Lowry at this point is kind of a fool’s game.

Trent Kline: Decentish. Also, my website is called ChatterBalks Dot Com and on it I make jokes about things.
It’s just a different kind of Rohlinger experiment. If he’s in the box, he’s both playing well and not playing well at the same time. But since it means that he is at least playing well, we’re keeping him in the box. Because when he’s out of it, we don’t get that half of the equation.

OT: Olympic combative sports medal question
I’ve noticed that in the tae kwon do competitions and the boxing competitions, the broze medal goes to two fighters instead of one. What’s the deal with that?

I think because it’s an elimination event – since fighters climb the ladder up to the gold, there’s always the chance that the loser can be KO’d or TKO’d. They don’t want two fighters then going in to decide the bronze, since it’s possible one of them could have previously been eliminated by KO or TKO, and you wouldn’t want a boxer fighting so soon after that.
But then again, I stopped watching Olympic boxing about two games ago, so what do I know.

No HD again
I haven’t seen an HD feed in a while. Are they on HD in the bay area?
by positiveuphemism on Aug 24, 2008 1:06 PM PDT reply actions
I’ll include my lame response from them when I complained about the paucity of HD games, especially considering there’s a whole channel just sitting there waiting for HD content:
Thanks for your inquiry regarding Giants HD. Out of the 136 regular season Giants game we show, 60 of them will be in HD this season, which is more than we’ve ever shown in a baseball season. Some of the restrictions to showing all games in HD include cost, production truck availability, and transmission availability. We agree that games in HD are drastically better in quality than SD games. Keeping this in mind, we’ve increased our projected HD events for 2008 to over 200 events.
While other markets may be able to provide all baseball games in HD, we have to spread out our HD coverage to all our Bay Area teams, including Giants, A’s, Sharks, Warriors and SaberCats.
Lame asses.
It's my blarg! Quick Pitch
Wow.
The Bay Area is the Number Four TV Market in the country. This is pretty bush league.
Pablo Sandoval wants to rock and roll all night.
Yeah. Especially since right now, at this point in the year, what other games do they need to worry about? Just the A’s. If they don’t have enough equipment to broadcast two events in HD at once, then they deserve to DIAF (if I may borrow BVCE’s phrase).
It's my blarg! Quick Pitch
I don’t know why this just popped into my mind, but your use of DIAF reminds me of another fine acronym: DILIGAF. Does It Look Like I Give A Fuck.

..so allow me to present Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain as two sweet, sweet bottles of warming hooch.
Actually, I was commenting earlier that his delivery seems a bit improved. His content still needs a bit of improvement, and his fumbling can be a bit distracting today.
I try to cut him some slack – he needs practice, after all if he’s gonna give broadcasting a serious go. But when you’re used to the well-oiled machine of Kruk and Kuip, it’s hard for a noob like JT to meet expectations.

Bengie Molina: stretching doubles into singles since 1998.
Uhh…He’s called J.T. Snow.
..so allow me to present Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain as two sweet, sweet bottles of warming hooch.
He can hit
He can hit
He can hit
He can hit he can hit he can hit he can hit
I CAN SIIIIIIIIIIIIIING

PABLO SANDOVAL!!
English translation: Paul Beach Egg
Why couldn't McCovey have hit the ball just three feet higher??
It looks as if it wants to say something...
Help me out here?
Why couldn't McCovey have hit the ball just three feet higher??
Potential M-barassment
Bengie almost forced at third from the outfield
wtf it’s the fourth inning.

But there’s a difference between taking out a pitcher early and a position player early. Would you take out Correia at this point?
by kingofthacove on Aug 24, 2008 2:37 PM PDT up reply actions
No, probably not. I’m just stuck on pinch hitting for Ishikawa for no good goddamn reason.

and for what it’s worth, I wouldn’t have PH Ishikawa, but I don’t see how PHing for Correia justifies that

It's obvious, really...
Correia BATS RIGHT-HANDEDD! That makes him teh awesome vs. thr LEFTY1ONEELEVEN

Giants best hope:
In this situation, Padres fail first
I secretly confer with your mind first
before I make any declarations
some say it's my mind probe
others say it’s my feather boa
What the Fuck?
I love how they’re talking about the possibility of taking Correia out when its the 4TH FUCKING INNING
bases loaded with no outs...
no runs scored…thanks Boch…
Too many holes evident
in the Giants dynamic batting order
And now Kevin hits for himself!
This is stupid!

And now we get a big nothing after bases loaded, no out.
Your 2008 San Francisco Giants.
(back to shooting guys now)
It's my blarg! Quick Pitch
holy shit, I just realized it’s only the fourth inning. I thought it was like the 7th.
HE PINCH HIT FOR ISHIKAWA IN THE FOURTH INNING?
Matt Cain: He'll save children, but not the Dodger children.
I was still outraged when I thought it was the 7th inning but now I’m REALLY outraged.
Matt Cain: He'll save children, but not the Dodger children.
Giant Rally
we get needy, and start requesting miracles
I join your blame game

That was some of Bochy’s worst managing of the year.
Congratulations Bruce! You really outdid yourself!
Trent Kline: Decentish. Also, my website is called ChatterBalks Dot Com and on it I make jokes about things.
They don’t deserve to win this game. That was just stupid.
The only way this makes sense is if Travis is injured
