Justin Hedrick
Grant made a recent post talking about Justin Hedrick as one possible piece to fixing the Giants bullpen woes. I had never really taken notice of him before (I probably should have), so I decided to do some research.
He is having a great year in AA and he had a good year last year. Below is a link to his current AA numbers this year:
But, I don't know much about him and I am wondering why a guy with his numbers is still in AA (especially after a successful stint there last year). Is there something wrong with the guy? Does he have sub-par stuff? I just don't understand why he is still in AA when he should be given a shot to show whether he can be an important part of the 2009 Giants bullpen.
What does everyone think about Justin Hedrick? Could he be a potential important piece in a future Giants bullpen? What kind of stuff does he have?

A chance
I would think Justin has a chance. His numbers were very good in San Jose in 2006 and Connecticut in 2007. They’ve been even better at Connecticut this time around.
Here are the things that perhaps make Justin a little less of a prospect than his numbers indicate:
. He’s 26.
. He has most “stuff” than speed, which can lead to trouble at higher levels.
. He has a very high fly ball rate, which can lead to homers in the majors.
I certainly wouldn’t write him off. But remember that both Sergio Romo and Osiris Matos were called up from Connecticut ahead of Justin. Worst case, he can eventually take advantage of those internships he performed while studying at Northeastern University. :)

Yeah, I thought there had to be good reasons while he was repeating AA with the numbers he has. I just hadn’t found much about him pertaining to what he throws. You just think the Giants organization would have at least promoted him to AAA to get a better read on what he can do.

Set up man
In 2006 Justin was the set up man for closer Brian Anderson at San Jose.

Maybe he wants to be the new mayor of Norwich
after all, Mike Cervenak is now with the Phillies.

Yeah, but any talentless player-types can own Philly by just showing up for a few games while a Jimmy Rollins digs a temporary grave for himself. In 15 years, we’ll probably have Disney doing a Mike Cervenak movie called, “Never Should Have Been: The Mike Cervenak story”.

He’s just a Siamese cat being a Siamese cat.
"While conservatives tell you 'leave things alone and no one will lose,' and liberals tell you 'interfere a lot and no one will lose,' baseball says 'someone will lose.'
