10th inning is played normally, but after that, the teams start the inning with runners on 1st and 2nd. They can choose what part of the lineup to use but have to use it in that order.

no. once the pick their spot for the 11th, they then play the order from there until game ends.

There is an explanation that makes sense. It still doesn’t make it a good rule, or even an intelligent one, but at least it’s not completely without reason.
