We're coming down the 9pm PST wire for Buster Posey to sign.  If news or rumors come out regarding his status, post them here. 

Let's  let's try to avoid a whole bunch of differnet FanPosts and Fanshots as news unfolds so people don't end up posting the same links over and over and over and over and over. (For the record, that wasn't post-padding...ok, I lied...it was...but I'm not the father and Mrs. Goofus' cancer was in remission at the time.)

Soft Bigotry of Low Expectations

Posey’s not going to sign. We are going to end negotiations $100,000 apart. He’s going to reenter the draft next year, get drafted by Logan White, and have a stellar 15-year career in Dodger blue. We’ll overcompensate next year by throwing a $10mil contract at a sore-armed college closer in the first round who never pans out.

If we go into this evening assuming that the above will happen, we won’t be disappointed!

There is some thought that he [Boras] is waiting for other shoes to drop — he has Eric Hosmer, the No. 3 guy, and Buster Posey is the No. 5 guy — but a call I got from San Francisco about two hours ago supports the notion that Posey probably will not end up in Alvarez’s pay scale, in terms of offers.

that doesn’t jibe well with the pissing match between Boars and Posey’s agent.

I read it as in Posey won’t get the offers that Alvarez will get. I was worried because according to Baggs this morning, Posey’s agent, Jeff Berry, wants his client to get more than Alvarez and Boras wants Alvarez to get more than Posey, which mean things might go down to the wire. If Posey won’t get Alvarez money, then that may endanger the signing.

I didn’t say they still won’t make good livings but when the generate as much money as they do, why shouldn’t they get their fair share. Tim Lincecum’s the best pitcher in the league and he’s still 2 years away from having a salary over $1 million. I’m sure he’s generated that much in jersey sales alone.
