FAIL!
In a move designed to boost the Yankees’ sagging offense, the team today will […] promote […] Cody Ransom […]
When I think offense, I always think of Cody Ransom, don’t you?
Oddly enough, he seems to have reinvented himself as a power hitter in the last few years. But he’s still a 32-year-old career minor leaguer.
The All-Father is now...umm...a Grizzly. But he was a Giant for a while.

Ransom spent all season at Triple-A, hitting .255 with 22 homers. He is another righty-hitting option for Girardi.
Typo? Nope, lookee here at baseball reference.
If he’s a free agent this off season – do the Giants go for the 32 year old? Too old, right? But a OPS in AAA over 800 the last three years. Could he lead the Giants in home runs next year?
Castillo got the DFA. Guestimate for Castillo DFA to come before the 2009 season = 2.

The numbers he put up while in his late 20’s in Fresno were like 95% as good as those newer numbers. If we didn’t like him enough to keep him then, we won’t do it now.

I guess 95% is way too charitable due to the recent relative spike in OBP, but still.

MinorLeagueSplits.com says that his 2008 numbers translate to an MLE of .222/.308/.409. That SLG would rank 5th on the Giants active roster, but the OBP underwhelms.
The .717 OPS is about what Bowker had…a week before he was sent down.

lol to all of this.
"While conservatives tell you 'leave things alone and no one will lose,' and liberals tell you 'interfere a lot and no one will lose,' baseball says 'someone will lose.' Not only says it - but insists upon it! ... Democracy is lovely, but baseball's more mature." BVCE supports SF Dugout and Manny Burriss.

Sexson received 35 plate appearances from the Yankees, hitting .250/.371/.393. He did what he was supposed to do, hitting .273/.393/.455 against lefties.

So they’d rather call up Cody Ransom to play SS than sign Barry Bonds to play SS??? WTFCOLLUSIONBBQ!
