One More at the Stick!
What's going on everybody? I've started up a petition to bring Los Gigantes back to the Stick for one final game. I think with all the poor performances by our boys in orange and black lately, we Giants fans need something to get us excited again. A lot of people have already visited and some have suggested the game could be a throwback Bay Bridge series. Check out the site and tell me what you think! Don't forget to sign the petition.

This Can No Longer Happen
It was published that the football seats that use to be moveable when the Stick was a dual use stadium are now permanent and can no longer be moved. Therefore no way to configue the Stick for baseball.

IT COULD MEAN MORE HOME RUNS!!!
Lets just make right field 110 feet and we could hit more homers in one game than we have this year! buster or death sabes!!!!!!!!

The right-field corner would be more like 190 feet if home plate was where it used to be.

um...this just in
With the new outfield dimensions, perhaps we could get an extra HR here or there from this team of flailers. Assuming our team of hacks could get the ball outta the infield!

I read that too, but they could probably work something out for one meaningless exhibition game. I’m sure the ownership would have no desire to do something like this though. They’re too busy raving about ATT Park, and don’t want anyone to talk about Candlestick and how the Giants used to actually win games there.

I watched the YT video from your site during a day game at the ’Stick, good lord there was a ton of foul territory behind home plate. I had forgotten about that.

Candlestick was ugly and a lousy place to play ball, but hardly soulless. It had more personality than almost any ballpark I’ve ever seen.
With that having been said, I don’t really see the point of this.

I actually miss the stick. When you went there on a cold weekday night you knew you were among real Giants fans; people to see their team, and make noise like a much larger crowd. AT&T has too many people there to be seen talking on their cellphones.
That being said, they already had a final game at the stick. I was one of the sellout crowd along with dozens of former Giants. It was a great goodbye and I don’t see the point of another.

that’s true, on a weekday game in August, you could bundle up in your best down, wear a balaclava and ski goggles, then head over to a baseball game with 9235 of your best friends. Then watch Steve Scarscone go 1-4 with a double.

I’d MUCH rather have 5,000 hardcore fans mixed in with 35,000 casual fans than just having the 5,000 hardcore fans, though. And it’s not even close, really.

Agreed. It was the people that made the place. The venue itself, for concerts, baseball, even football today, was, is, and continues to be a poorly-designed, multi-purpose ashtray situated on a windy point with terrible access, far from downtown and lacking in any atmosphere. Shea has more character, and Shea is a pit.

Ah, but the fact that it was a windy, freezing pit was precisely what gave it character. It was an experience unlike anything in baseball. It was a bitter, hateful personality, but a very strong one.

what i loved...
dollar bleacher seats, the giant heaters that would turn on on cold nights, being a kid and jumping down into the outfield area just past the fence to go after homerun balls ( i can’t believe they let us do that) and the most craptastic urinals around.
that being said, i have no desire to return to watch a baseball game.

Years ago
I met a gal once who told me here father designed Candelstick Park. At first you might think she was trying to impress me just to get in my pants (I mean, who wouldn’t want to get in my pants?), but that factoid isn’t all that impressive.
