Another roster move

Baggarly reports that we've made another swap with Fresno, this time for a fresh arm: Geno's going down, and Matt Palmer is coming up. Apparently this was needed because we've been abusing the bullpen over the last little while. Not as exciting as yesterday, but I'm all for seeing all these new guys.

Baggs also points out that we'll need to make another move to get the 40-man back down to size prior to today's game. He makes it sound like it will not be a trade. Maybe Merkin will be put on the 60-man?

oops, now I see what you’re saying. Sorry to usurp, Gamer101. I actually tried to take a look, but I guess I was looking at “recommended fanshots”.

…apologize to me? I feel honored…but it was my first tear fanshot..I would like to thank my mom and those who always say fanshot during fanposts and gameday threads

Palmer? Okay…

Geno:

Wishing he was at the Olympics.

This just in:

the Giants are fucking jerks.

by bondslegend on Aug 14, 2008 9:40 AM PDT up reply actions

Would it have been worse to send him down on the last day of the Olympics? Probably, but this is pretty bad. Poor Geno.

No, my Crazy Crab bobblehead is not for sale.

by Kitspool on Aug 14, 2008 9:44 AM PDT up reply actions

Yeah, they let him pitch in the big leagues...

…like he’s probably been wanting to do his whole life. What assholes.

by KCE on Aug 14, 2008 9:53 AM PDT up reply actions

For 2 days. Yay.

let him play in the olympics, then call him up. Now, he got to play like twice and has to sit around in the minors like he has all year. 2 days in the majors, or a few weeks in the olympics- which do you think he prefers?

by bondslegend on Aug 14, 2008 10:23 AM PDT up reply actions

zackly

Espinelli got hosed no matter how anyone tries to spin it.

I have no idea what he prefers. Nor do you.

by KCE on Aug 14, 2008 10:28 AM PDT up reply actions

2 days?

He was up for about 3 weeks and pitched in 9 games. And he’ll be back.

I’ve gotta think for a baseball player, the Olympics is definitely a consolation prize. We’re not talking swimmers or gymnasts here.

plus, the income boost probably went a long way towards salveing his wounds.

by tyrannoman on Aug 14, 2008 1:22 PM PDT up reply actions

just occured to me

that we might want to dump one of our 5!!!! catchers on the 40-man

by BigO on Aug 14, 2008 9:44 AM PDT reply actions

Come on

Fifth catcher is a crucial roster spot!

Waiting for Spilman.

Nah

He did change his last name from Kinney, though. Apparently it sounded too ethnic.

hey

leftymalo asks a good question (or at least one I can’t answer): if Posey signs a major-league deal, does he immediately go on the 40-man?

by BigO on Aug 14, 2008 10:04 AM PDT reply actions

uh, yeah

just noticed my “60-man” blunder in the original post. Zut alors, I think you know what I meant.

40, 41

whatever it takes

I think the Mets could use one of those right about now.
