San Francisco Giants @ Houston Astros

Football season is around the corner, and Niners Nation is going strong. Some of the regulars here moonlight as regulars there. If you can't get enough HowTheyScored, here's your chance. If you absolutely can get enough HowTheyScored...he, uh, doesn't post there.

The analysis is great, and so is the community. Go and register as a Niners Nation user today!

Also, if one or both of your parents did not love you, it's possible that you are a Raiders fan. In that case, please note that there is a support group at Silver and Black Pride.

Niners Nation? Is that some sort of 49ers website?

My Dave Righetti is better than your Dave Righetti.

by howtheyscored on Aug 13, 2008 4:02 PM PDT   0 recs

I was going to post there, but if howtheyscored doesn’t know about it, it’s probably not worth it.

Trent Kline: Decentish. Also, my website is called ChatterBalks Dot Com and on it I make jokes about things.

Encouraging defectors

Grant appears intent on thinning the McCovey herd….

by Moggeee on Aug 13, 2008 4:03 PM PDT   0 recs

Well

If you’re looking to “defect”, the Niners are your team.

No, my Crazy Crab bobblehead is not for sale.

by Kitspool on Aug 13, 2008 4:05 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Defect is the defining word of the York organization

The Niners are hopeless. The Giants at least have a prayer on any given night.

(Tonight not really being one of those nights.)

Numbers according the the official site:

Ishikawa #5
Sandoval #48
Rohlinger #57

Now 5 catchers on the 40-man, how long does that last?

Guys that shouldn't be on the 40 man after this season

Vizquel, Aurillia, G-rod, Holm, Alfonzo, Timpner, Yabu – anybody else?

by superk1ng on Aug 13, 2008 4:20 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Shouldn’t as in probably won’t, or shouldn’t as in PLEASE GO AWAY?

by jcb9 on Aug 13, 2008 4:21 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

In the latter case, Dave Roberts.

And I really have no problem with Holm as backup catcher.

by jcb9 on Aug 13, 2008 4:22 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Roberts and Winn plz

Adopted Giant Brian Wilson: One of the few reasons to watch this year.

by sfgreg on Aug 13, 2008 4:22 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Roberts yes

Winn still has a role, i reckon

Billy Hayes: His job is better than yours.

by delorean on Aug 13, 2008 4:23 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Yeah, that role is to get his ass traded.

by jcb9 on Aug 13, 2008 4:23 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

one of either Holm or G-Rod should stick around.

Me, agreed.

I’d rather he be traded before next season – less time for him to get hurt or otherwise crash and burn his trade value, such as it is.

by jcb9 on Aug 13, 2008 4:26 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Err…that was supposed to be “Yes, agreed,” not “Me, Agreed.” Not sure how I did that.

Me, understanding

by oldjacket on Aug 13, 2008 4:28 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

YES

I honestly cannot stand him anymore. He can’t hit, he can’t get on base, he grounds in to a ton of double plays and CAN HE PLEASE LEARN TO BLOCK A DAMN BALL? He should be thanking the official scorer for all those “wild pitches” they score.

by superk1ng on Aug 13, 2008 4:26 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Dog Days of Summer

Remember the league has now outlawed greenies so a lot of players will be dragging in August and September. Teams with a solid bench should do well down the pennant drive.

Ughh….The thought of the September and October, when the Giants are out and Basketball hasn’t begun. All that talking and nothing happening, on top of 15 minutes of watching something not happen over and over again in slow motion. The worst two months in the sports year.

Go Rohlinger!

by Merope on Aug 13, 2008 4:45 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

I dont understand everyone’s excitement over Rohlinger. He hit .235 last year in low A. He hit good this year but I’d rather see him sustain this hitting in Triple A. Shoot me, but I kinda wanna see McClain. I know he’s old but I always feel bad for that guy.

by MetalFaceDoom on Aug 13, 2008 4:31 PM PDT   0 recs

HE HIT WELL

also, excitement is Rohlinger is not Jose Castillo.

Matt Cain: He'll save children, but not the Dodger children.

don’t feel bad for McClain. he gets to play baseball for a living. sounds pretty good to me…

by giantfan5 on Aug 13, 2008 4:32 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

The big thing is

his name isn’t Jose Castillo and, unlike McClain, he is young and might have a future in the league.

But only late-career Sabean could turn it into a negative by inflicting a Joe Castle on us
