Barring a miracle (hah!) we’re on our way to our 4th straight losing season: 2005-2008. As many horrible teams as the Giants had in the 80s and 90s, that never happened in either decade. 3-year runs happened in both decades (1983-1985, 1994-1996), but never 4 years. Oy.

And this is what is wrong with errors and, further, the earned run rule. Should an out have been made on that play? 100% yes. Therefore, it should be an error.
For the record, I’m not disagreeing with you; you are correct that’s the way the rule is scored, but it makes no sense.

Where do the Pads keep getting these good bullpen arms? Seems like everytime they lose a few guys, they get others just as good to fill in the blanks.
I told my girlfriend (who’s a Pads fan) that I hoped Walker wasn’t coming in next, and she immediately responded, “I think they should do exactly that.”
