OT: Flight of the Conchords
I would make this into a fanshot, but as wel all know, nobody reads those.
Does anyone watch this show? My brother just gave me the first season DVD and I'm on the ledge about it. On one hand the dry, awkward humor is remeniscent of The Office and Arrested, but on the other hand it's very difficult to watch more than one episode at once. It's kind of mind-numbing, but it also seems brilliant at times. Plus some of their songs are just spectacular. What do you guys think of this show, if you've seen it?

I didn't read the article I just read the thread title
I fucking love that show.

okay now that I read that paragraph
I saw them live when they came to SF a while ago. They’re hilarious and they’re also pretty good musicians. And as for the TV series, the racist fruit vendor episode is the best one.

albie the racist dragon.
if you can watch that sketch and not laugh out-loud then your soul has been judged and it is lacking.

What the hell is albie the racist dragon and the more important question, why am I not watching a program that has something called albie the racist dragon?

That is all I’ve seen of their stuff but it’s amazing. I need to get around to seeing/listening to the rest.

Own season 1 and all the musicks.
Anyone who doesn’t like it must have contracted Hep C from Alyssa Milano.

"In the marmalade forest..."
And immediately there’s laughter.
Wow. Yeah , that’s pretty riotous all right.
So what I’m wondering now is…does this entitle me to a go – round with Alyssa?
I’d be happy to rip that Dodger jersey off of her – but ever so slowly…

I am a huge fan. I own the series on DVD, though for the songs, I generally prefer the live performances that you can find on YouTube for several of the songs (Bowie, Hiphopapottamus, Humans are Dead are all way better on YouTube).
I saw them live back in mid-May back in Ohio—-they are spectacular in person. They have a new test song in which they talk about how freaky they are and it is hilarious.

How you have lived this long...
and NOT heard co-workers singing “Business Time”, etc. I’ll never know. Their live show is a riot as well, I didnt want that thing to end. LOLing for hours afterward.

Based solely on the fact that everybody likes them, I’m going to pretend that I don’t to try to get some of the real haters out of the shadows and start a pop culture blog fight!
Flight of the Conchords Sux!

(In reality, I’ve never paid much attention to them and have no real opinion, though I thought the racist dragon thing could have been funnier)

I’m a fan. Have the DVDs and their EP, need to pick up the full-length album. I sadly missed them when they were playing here live – by the time I noticed the concert, it was sold out. Bastards.

Big fan. Every time I walk by a place that advertises kebabs, I always silently mutter “the most beautiful girl I have ever seen…eating a kebab.” I think the show was brilliant in season one, I just don’t know what they can do for an encore.

One of my fav shows
I could watch that show all day. Good call with the comparison to the Offices type of humor.
Great show.
by kvdp12 on Jul 10, 2008 1:42 AM PDT 0 recs
Absolutely the funniest thing on television
With The Office a close second…
The two of them are hilarious, but Murray puts the show over the top, for me anyway. Every scene with him kills me.
My wife was very skeptical after she saw the pilot episode, but I finally got her into it after we saw them live here in Philly a couple months ago. They were great live, and they did a couple of new songs that I imagine will show up in Season 2, which they said they’re working on now.
I once punched a hole in a light fixture in celebration of a J.T. Snow home run. That is all.

Who's the Boom King?
I’m the Boom King.
Also love the “If that’s what you’re into” song with the little kid’s piano.
I tend to watch that show and wait for the two songs per episode. Little dry in between, but have to agree that Murray is a fantastic character, also that wierd chick who plays their only fan..
by bisquik on Jul 10, 2008 9:53 AM PDT 0 recs
in all seriousness
I don’t really like the show all that much and find their humor rather shallow. I don’t know, something about comedy music never really got me. unless it’s comedy rap.
I do like their live performances, but the two times i’ve been made to sit and watch an episode, I really didn’t enjoy it all that much.
