Wore my 'Beat LA' shirt all day

I miss the days when the ‘Stick used to rock when all 60,000+ would get into it.

On a slight random note, I’m disappointed that Pedro Feliz’s grand slam on 9/25/04 doesn’t get much love during the whole “storied rivalry” thing. Jon Miller’s call still gives me goosebumps.

Sure the Giants missed the playoffs that year (with that whole Steve Finley thing), but the only times I’ve loved sports more were: After Game 5 of the 2002 WS, Young to Owens to beat the Packers, and #756.

I second the notion of Feliz’s slam needing more love. I was there and it was one of the most glorious things I have ever seen.

by Merope on Jul 29, 2008 7:05 PM PDT up reply actions

Yes, 3-9 with 2 walks and no extra base hits is clearly a compelling enough line and a large enough sample size to justify building your lineup around.

by jcb9 on Jul 29, 2008 7:03 PM PDT up reply actions

Also, Hank Blalock went on the DL today, which precludes the possibility of us trading for him at the deadline. Yay.

by jcb9 on Jul 29, 2008 6:58 PM PDT reply actions

many players will pass thru waivers in August so deals can still be made

by wilriv21 on Jul 29, 2008 6:59 PM PDT up reply actions

Rule?

Is there a rule that prohibits teams from trading players on the DL?

It’s not like we’re going anywhere this year, and he’d be a helluva upgrade over Castillo, er… Richie.

Tim Lincecum is Baseball's Chuck Norris

by Azantor on Jul 29, 2008 7:01 PM PDT up reply actions

Not really an upgrade

Blalock on the road, 2005-2007: .244, .296 OBP, .373 SLG
Blalock on the road, 2008: .256, .301 OBP, .295 SLG

Castillo, 2008: .261, .312 OBP, .410 SLG

And yes, you can trade players on the DL. We did that with Kurt Ainsworth a few years ago at the deadline. But it makes it a lot less likely.

by jcb9 on Jul 29, 2008 7:06 PM PDT up reply actions

Oops

That should be a .395 SLG for Blalock on the road this year, not .295. He ain’t THAT bad away from Arlington.
