Anyone who has continued to watch wrestling all the time the last few years has questionable standards.

ya i was a huge fan back in the day when i was like 10-15, then it just kinda fizzled out for me. Remember when DX firts formed and they were the baddest of asses, that was awesome.

Smackdown used to be really awesome when it had Eddie Guererro, Christ Benoit, Kurt Angle, Rey Mysterio, and Edge (the “Super Six”). Then they decided to break that up and things haven’t been the same since. I’ll still check in on the WWE once in a while to see what Chris Jericho or Shawn Michaels are up to since they’re my favorite wrestlers, but it’s been a mess for a while.

To me, it all started falling to crap when ECW and WCW died and there ceased to be competition. TNA, despite a ridiculously talented roster, has failed completely to recreate those old days.

by jcb9 on Jul 26, 2008 9:55 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah

The competition really brought out the best in wrestling. TNA has all this potential, but they keep ruining it by bringing in old WCW and WWE castoffs. Also they’re so aggressive in trying to promote themselves as being so much better than the WWE, when they could be using that time to focus on themselves.

Farewell, Ray. We'll miss your smile and your sugar. Welcome, Steve Hammond "Eggs". Throw strikes.

There was a blurb in the Chronicle this morning that made it sound like Roberts is the LF starter now and he was just getting a day off yesterday.

:(

(Here it is: Roberts was off one night after he had Thursday’s game-winning hit, but is expected to play today.)

They are too concerned with not bruising egos.

by Lars The Wanderer on Jul 26, 2008 4:48 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, I was reading in the Tribune that they started Lewis last night because they knew they were going to start Roberts against Webb tonight, and didn’t want Lewis to have 3 days off in a row. As if the Giants needed to justify not starting Roberts, the HERO of Thursday night.

Adopted Giant: Travis Denker. Good?

by scotterduder on Jul 26, 2008 4:46 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, I guess. I think I’m just frustrated about Vizquel and how he’s totally awesome now so they’re backing off of their comments to play him less. 3-game hitting streaks!!!

I’m just afraid the same thing kind of thing will happen to Lewis if Roberts happens to have a little hot streak.

We sorta have that here in Sac. In the livingroom good reception, in the bedroom it’s hit and miss, unless the neighbor turns on an electrical appliance…then nada…

They do have antennas for radios, they are something like tv rabbit ears… I considered getting one, but then changed my mind, so I don’t know if they work.

Oregon Giants affiliate 1360 AM

Giants games are the top priority when there is no NASCAR racing, college baseball, H. S. baseball, horseshoe games, infomercials or airshows to broadcast. The signal fades into mariachi at night and is turned completlly off around 6PM on the weekends if I remember correctly. Otherwise, it’s a great affiliate!

Mass transit to Dodger Stadium update

About a month ago the question was asked if there was mass transit to Dodger Stadium then answer then was “No”, however, now the answer is “Yes”.

LOS ANGELES, July 24, 2008 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/—Starting tomorrow, Dodger fans can travel for free on a shuttle running between Union Station and Dodger Stadium on game days. Fans living in the greater Los Angeles area can now take various rail and bus services from throughout the region to Union Station and enjoy the free service, presented by the City of Los Angeles. Shuttle service begins 90 minutes before every home game for the rest of the season, and concludes one hour after the game ends. Fans will be dropped off outside of Lot G near Autograph Alley behind the pavilions at Dodger Stadium.

what I am confused by is no matter how high they feel they should have been drafted, they were drafted where they were. They should be feeling lucky to have been drafted at all! Even they are damn good at baseball, it is still a privledge to just get to play the game as a pro. IMHO.

For rounds 1-2, the team gets the same pick +1 (i.e., if they don’t sign fifth overall pick Posey, they’ll get the sixth overall pick in 2008).

For 3rd round picks, they’ll get a pick in the sandwich round after the third round.

There is no compensation for unsigned picks after the third round.

What

Mcpherson is starting at 1st tonight, I refuse to see how signing him and not Castillo would have been a bad thing he can play first and third! And mash, I know he hits the hitter friendly ballpark and all but he might have worked out well for us. Maybe, Im just pissed to see Castillo in the lineup and batting second. >:(

OT QUESTION OF GREAT IMPORTANCE

Does anyone have this year’s version of MLB: The Show for PS2?

I was thinking of buying it tomorrow, but I had last year’s version and there were a few things that annoyed me (namely, that every single catcher in the game was rated way too high.) Did they fix that for this year?

by jcb9 on Jul 26, 2008 9:13 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

After this debacle I’m tired of him too. Does nobody on the coaching staff have any freaking common sense?!?

In Lincecum’s first start after the all star break they leave him in. Uh Bochy… Timmy’s just had the flu, he’s thrown 109-2 pitches after 6 innings, the ump had a crap strike zone, and quite frankly Lincecum just didn’t look all that comfortable on the mound. Yes you dumbass you should have pulled him after 6.

So now fast forward to last night and Timmy’s cooking, he’s looking good, the home plate ump had a fair strike zone, he’d thrown 109+3 pitches after 7- and he’s got 13 freakin strikeouts… but all dingbat bochy can see is the pitch count, so he pulls him out. He takes him out??!! What was the thought process? “Well it didn’t work last time, so this time I better pull him.” [AND he puts in Walker? why Walker? Hell, put in Wilson. Wilson and Timmy are best buds, at least Wilson might have some extra motivation to win the freakin game.]

Hello….Mr Potato Head… there are situations and there are situations, and you sir are obviously too stupid to distinguish between them!
And if these are the kind of managerial decisions we have to look forward to, I’m all for organizing the lynch mob – with that big head we’re going to need a helluva lotta rope…

by Revolution1 on Jul 26, 2008 9:56 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

lol, anyone watch Baseball Tonight last night?

It was pretty funny. John Kruk was just absolutely raving over Tim Lincecum, saying “If there was one pitcher on any team right now that I had to choose to give me the best chance of winning on any given day, it would be Tim Lincecum. He’s the best pitcher I’ve seen in a LONG time, and if he had a better team behind him, like New York, or Atlanta, people would be talking about him like he’s the second coming of Cy Young.”

I agree, John. Back when Cy Young was pitching, though, there wasn’t this big paranoia that managers have today where they seem to think if you throw over 100 pitches in an outing, your arm’s going to fall off.

Is it just me, or did Timmy blowing through the D-Back’s in the 7th inning make anyone else think that he had plenty of gas left in the tank to pitch the 8th, even the 9th if he’d wanted.

by ololo3 on Jul 27, 2008 8:55 AM PDT reply actions   0 recs

I thought so. He looked great to me, blowing 98 by the one jerk in his last inning.

I was actually surprised he didn’t come out for the 8th. I guess I should be happy, since Bochy always seems to leave him in too long, but he was really cruising last night (as opposed to last time, when he was struggling badly all game and Bochy left him in anyway.)
