No need. Schierholtz won’t be a starter here. I’d be surprised. Lewis and or Rowand would probably be traded by the time most of those kids are ready for the big leagues.
2012
assuming the team re-signs Cain before he hits free agency after 2011 (or the team doesn’t exercise his option after 2010)
AND
assuming Mad Bum progresses faster than Alderson, which I don’t think he will.

Deja vu much?
How does this thread differ materially from the one posted an hour before it?
http://www.mccoveychronicles.com/2008/7/23/577765/giants-future-rotation-and
These aren’t the new “trade Zito” threads… these are the new “Cain’s dispensible” and “Which vets should be traded this week” threads. Their differences run the whole spectrum from ivory to creme.

Not that impressed
Two of those players could be above average, but I really can’t see more than that. With that in mind, I think most of the rest of the players could be league average, which is very valuable, but I think we are going to need to trade some pitching for some offense at some point, or make a FA splash

Better yet:
C: Buster Posey
1B: Pablo Sandoval
2B: Noonan
3B: Gillaspie
SS: Burriss, though I think a trade should fill the position
LF: Villalona
CF: Rowand, until Rafael “Orlandito” Rodríguez blossoms
RF: Kieschnick
Bench…
Fourth outfielder (many options): McBryde
Infielders (many options): Downs, Frandsen, Vélez, Holms
Starters:
Lincecum
Bumgarner
Cain
Sánchez
Zito, until he can be traded
Bullpen (many combinations possible):
Foppert
Hinshaw
Pichardo
English
Romo
Sosa
Closer:
Anderson
I like
this.

evidently he is going to lose his job to a guy named Anderson. I can only assume the Anderson he refers to is the Cleveland Browns QB Derek Anderson who we will get to pull off a QB to closer conversion (known as a “reverse Chad Hutchinson”).

Brian Anderson-
Closer; Long Beach State. Been a great closer outside of Connecticut this year. Bad rash of luck and an increased BB% have made this a not so great year, but he should rebound.

Wilson?
Wrapped up nicely an dealt with others to:
Queens (for Fernando Martínez)
The Bronx (for Austin Jackson)
Milwaukie (for Angel Salomé)
Ishikawa would be a good choice for the bench, adding flexibility with Sandoval (primary first basemen and second catcher). Then use Witter or another offense-first catcher as a pinch hitter.
yeah, the Giants will trade their all star closer for a prospect. By the way, alot of scouts think Martinez is overrated and Salome’s power surge was mostly caused by steroids.

The mets would lol so much at a 1-1 offer of Fmart for Wilson

THREAD HIJACK!
Hellboy II or the Dark Knight? Personally I liked Hellboy II better
Ironically Hellboy was a more human character and easily relatable character than Bruce Wayne/Batman who seemed a tad too inaccessible for my tastes. Heath Ledger was amazing as the Joker, but 180 minutes is a bit on the long side.

Agreed. That’s why I’m glad THE DARK KNIGHT was only 150.

Neither do I. Boondock Saints is violent and funny and has hot Irish twin brothers picking off bad guys and a kickass soundtrack. Isn’t Dr. Zhivago a romance story?

Hoop Dreams was awesome, and came with an intermission break in the middle!
I have set Dave Roberts free; if he comes back, it was meant to be.
Is Ray Allen in that?

GHANDI was 3+ hours and had an intermission, too. MALCOM X, too. And RAGTIME. And many other great movies. The point wasn’t that any movie shouldn’t be 3 hours, just that THE DARK KNIGHT shouldn’t have been—and wasn’t.

Ugh. Really, Josh? Ghandi? How’s about we substitute MY FAIR LADY there in your post and calls it even?
My boy ain't fat, he's just big boned. Big bat, too.
I listed those three movies because they’re the only ones I can remember seeing in the theater which had intermissions, not because they’re my favorites (although MALCOLM X definitely is).
By the way, MY FAIR LADY < 3 hours. It’s 170 minutes, as is HEAT, SCARFACE, and THE GODFATHER. Therefore, they didn’t meet the stated criteria.
How about we go with GODFATHER II instead? It’s 200 minutes, and if anybody doesn’t like it, I’m more than willing to come to your house and beat some sense into you.

It's a deal
I didn’t think MFL was quite that long, but about 12-15 years ago I saw it at the Uptown in DC and they did indeed let us out at the appropriate time for the intermission. I guess in MFL’s case that was more a carry over from the stage version than it was necessitated by the length of the movie.
My boy ain't fat, he's just big boned. Big bat, too.
Somehow I hadn’t seen The Godfather up until a week ago (I got this as a present). I watched part I last Thursday and part II the day after. Part II = best movie ever.
..so allow me to present Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain as two sweet, sweet bottles of warming hooch.
It’s another one of the “movies that howtheyscored has blasphemously never seen.”
I think it goes right beneath “Indiana Jones and the (all of them)” on the blasphemeter.

2010 or 2011
I think it would be reasonable that barring trades, the suggested roster could be in place or very close to it by 2010 or 2011, assuming the players reach or approach their potentials.
Heck, who thought that Manny Burriss, John Bowker, Steve Holm, Ivan Ochoa and Brian Bocock would make it up this season, let alone all the pitchers?
2011 or 2012
Don’t forget, that team will be very cheap on the payroll side, with all the home grown talent. They could afford to sign a high priced RF like a Josh Hamilton or Carl Crawford, or the next Vladimir Guerrero/Carlos Beltran. If everyone develops, that could be a World Series team!
C: Posey/Sandoval
1B: Villalona/Sandoval/Bowker
2B: Noonan/Frandsen
SS: Burriss/Frandsen
3B: Gillaspie/Free Agent Bat
LF: Lewis/Bowker
CF: Rowand
RF: Top Free Agent/Schierholtz
SP: Lincecum, Sanchez, Cain, MadBum, Zito
RP: Wilson, Alderson, Valdez, Hinshaw, Sosa, Espinelli, Romo
That would be my favorite team ever!
You are counting
on a lot of prospect-related things to go right. We would be the luckiest system in history.

Juding from the history of baseball rosters
in the 30+ years of the FA era, cross-checked with the rate at which we’ve developed position players over that same 30 years, “never” seems to me to be a very likely answer. However, just going by the presence of Wendell Fairly in your scenario, no fewer than 6 years from now could also be acceptable.
My boy ain't fat, he's just big boned. Big bat, too.
whatever to all you glass is half empty people - I like the way that looks
"Those boos really motivate me to make something happen." - Bonds
But you like it based on what?
Half the suggested starting lineup (plus some of the pitchers and bench) has 0 or less than a full season of professional play on which to base any future production value. Burriss is still under two years and most of that two years suggests he has a very difficult time making hard contact against RHP. Aside from the sheer unlikeliness of having an entire roster of players come out of one (not terribly stacked organization) over the course of two or three years, what practical argument suggests to you that this scenario is both 1) likely and 2) likely to be successful, other than the fact that fantasies and opiates are quite enjoyable in the short-term.
My boy ain't fat, he's just big boned. Big bat, too.
