OT: We need prayers!
I know this is a baseball fan site, but I felt it was the best way to reach a lot of people that God might hear. My wife and I got a puppy on last friday, we took her to the vet after she started throwing up and found she has Parvo. I guess Parvo is a viral infection that dogs get and it is quite deadly for dogs and especially puppies . She is eight weeks old her name is Abby and it would realy hurt us for her to not pull through. So if you guys believe in any god please pray for her, since we can't have kids and can't afford adoption yet, she is all we have, so please if you would. Thank you all so much! GO GIANTS!!!! You can see pics of her at my wifes blog auntie-rie-riem.blogspot.com.

your puppy is a gamer. Best of luck. When he gets better he can play 3B.

I understand that some do not beleive in God and therefore praying is useless but I’ve always wonder how thinking about someone’s sick dog is going to help the situation???

That’s funny, I’ve always wondered how praying is going to help the situation.
/religious discussion
I’m not saying it’s your intent, but this isn’t an appropriate forum to debate the merits of prayer versus the power of positive thinking. That could take years, and cost millions of lives. Those who believe in God can’t understand how others don’t, and those who don’t can’t understand how others do. There’s no point in trying to discuss it—that’s how wars get started. Moral support is what’s been asked for here, so I think we should all just give it in our own way, and not question what form other people use.

If you’re of a certain mind, there is no reason to believe that it can. if you’re of another mind, there is every reason to believe that it can.
But regardless of which mind you are, expressing positive, even prayer-ful (or prayer-like), thoughts IS a meaningful way to offer support to a person. You may or mot believe that you are helping the situation, and you may or may not believe in the merits of expressing a sentiment that is in some way intended to help the situation, but you can’t deny the merits of helping the person. The puppy may or may not pull through. I personally sincerely hope that the puppy leads a long, healthy life, and I personally am agnostic toward the idea that expressing that hope can affect the situation, but even if there is no causality, and even if, forbid it, the puppy does not make it through this experience, jbowl himself will be better off having received my support during this time.

This, basically. I think believing in something you can’t see or hear or touch is a waste of time. It’s even a bigger crock to me that someone would base their entire life’s belief system around said intangible thing.
I can’t explain how or why faith works for some people. But it does and who in the heck am I to say no your wrong when someone is in deep doodoo and praying? Prayer makes people feel better, like they’re heard and counted.
And if prayer cannot help the doodoo situation, at the very least it can give comfort. Prayer brings people together. I don’t pray, but I am supporting the jbowl family through their hard time and that’s as good as me saying “hey god can you take a look at this their puppy is sick.” Jbowl knows he has someone in his corner and that is the comfort.

I hope the pup pulls through. Nothing bad should ever happen to kids or puppies (or Giant fans, but that’s another topic)

Take good care of your puppy during this time. No matter what happens, don’t give up hope.

Well
since this is about gone thank you all so much for you warm wishes and thoughts! Just an update the vet said that if the pup makes it through the first 24-48 hours it usually lives and 48 went by at about 12:45 this afternoon, so fingers crossed she will make it! Again thank you all so much!

Great news!
I talked about this to my wife, who’s kind of a psuedo-expert on pets and their various diseases, and she said Parvo isn’t nearly as deadly as it was just a short time ago, and that as long as it is caught early, most puppies survive. I hope that’s exactly what’s happened. Good luck!

Ya
I totally will put some pics up of her, my wife’s blog has pics you guys can see. You don’t need to read all the other junk she posts scroll down just a bit and you can see her. Also there are some pics of the tigers game we went to, you know the one Zito went two innings and gave up 63 earned runs. Anyway it is auntierie-riem.blogspot.com, by the way Dark Night is a freaking bad azz movie and I highly suggest it for anyone that has not seen it yet.
