There are statistically even match-ups, and then there are statistically even match-ups. Small sample sizes be damned, this is as close as they get.

bochy said yesterday that Omar would be a bench player the rest of the season. Funny how he’s started both games since he’s said that.
It was actually that he would be a bench player after next week (i.e., after the non-waiver trade deadline).
So check back Aug 1 to see who’s starting.
It's my blarg! Quick Pitch
but HOW will Omar EVER break out of this career-worst slump if we just bench him?!

Seriously
Why are we waiting til next week to reduce Omar’s playing time? It’s not like he is going to increase his trade value in a week.

That kinda reminds me, I was walking around DC yesterday and I saw these people go by on Segways and one guy was drinking from a water bottle pretty heavily, like he was really exhausted.
I was like wtf.
This sounded more interesting to me in my head.
My exceptionally artistic rendering of a segway with a flat tire is not getting the love it deserves.

The idea that the trade deadline is relevant to Vizquel amuses me greatly. Who the hell would claim him on waivers after the deadline if we wanted to trade him then!? And if they did claim him, we could just let them have him anyway, which isn’t a bad thing.
Which is why. . .
I could see the idiotic policy of we’ll save $XXX from his salary if he gets picked up. . .we need to do our due dilligence. . . ugh

Fred is awesome. Lot’s of great tunes. I listen to 43 (XMU) on occasion and the 70’s Channel a good bit. The MLB coverage is pretty decent. The Show with Rob Dibble and Kevin Kennedy kinda sucks but it’s nice to be able to hear games no matter where you are.
Yeah, the baseball stuff was the deciding factor for me...
But the music was a nice bonus. I also listen to Fungus on 53. They play a bunch of punk stuff that I haven’t heard in decades.

Speaking of Omar
Did y’all see the report that the Giants won’t release him because they don’t want to embarrass him? Sigh. When did we appoint Stuart Smalley as out GM
Instead of releasing him, why doesn’t he get injured … and then they keep him on as an instructional type coach? They were saying that the team now takes infield regularly, I bet he’d make a great coach.
Emotionally I agree with this. I’d rather see him step away on his own. If the team was otherwise decent, I might have to revisit that, but right now that’s where I’m at.
It's my blarg! Quick Pitch
I think the Nationals called up a new guy to start manning first. Here's his picture.

Funny thing, at about 40 yrs of age finally learned of the body of water that is the beach on the north side of the island. Always thought it was the Caribbean Sea but learned that it is the Atlantic Ocean.
All I ask of my first trip there is lots of baseball at Hiram Bithorn Stadium, lots of good food, and a pretty brown boy to keep me entertained.

Want Sabean to go all out
No half-ass rebuilding here. Open all the doors, gates and check all the holes and crevices. If rebuilding it is then do it all the way and have a clearance sale.
Bochy just doesn’t get it. Durham was traded to make room for the kids but he hits a lousy veteran for Velez in a key situation. It makes even less sense because in a one run game you want your fastest player to get on base.

like an annoying 6 year old.
“We’ve talked to Omar, and he understands that he’ll be playing less.”= Starts for the next month while his batting average looks more like a Mormon’s blood alcohol content.
“Velez will get the lion’s share at 2nd because he brings more offense—-and what we need right now is more offense.”= You got 3 ABs kid before we send you back to Fresno. To be honest, you only get 10 ABs before the veterans get rusty, so…savor it.

Brian Sabean's new dad: Firm believer in corporal punishment
If gameday is right, he has a really small mph difference between changeup and fastball. It says 1st pitch 82 mph change, second pitch 84 mph heat. Maybe the first pitch was just a really slow fastball. (or 2-seamer, sinker, slider, cutter, etc.)

Sorry for "trolling" - it's obvious by my screenname where my allegiances lie, but
the last two days I’ve tried to tune into the Giants’ game on Direct TV – HD and the game hasn’t been televised in HD. It’s usually 696-1, but that is not working. Any idea what’s going on? Thanks in advance. If you choose not to answer, I understand as well.

A's fan actually - didn't feel the need to switch screen names.
Thanks for the 411. I just found it bothersome that the last two games were not in HD. Giants clearly have the better HD “package” than the A’s and so I got worried that maybe Direct TV was screwing me over.
Baseball in HD on the 50” plasma is awesome – I don’t really care who’s playing, just so long as I get me some HD.
