OT: McC Vain Bastards Thread

I'm stuck at a conference right now (I get to hear Jant Reno speak tomorrow, I'm pumped about that) so let's post pictures of ourselves ON THE INTERNETS.

I've seen what some of you freaks look like but it's always amusing to connect a face to a name.

Here's me in my STATS LAIR (A Marriot). Currently waiting for my next presentation.

It was actually an hilarious game

This mets fan behind me bought the foam finger for the sole purpose of f’ing with me. The two girls sitting next to me and my bud proceeded to ridicule him for his Yankees cap and me for my giants cap, but we ended up having beers together, etc.

It was also the first game post Boonitez, which was nice, even though the giants got dominated

VERY COOL!

Locally (the Central Valley), we have a wonderful place called Project Survival’s Cat Haven. I’ve been taking my family there since not long after it opened about 10 years ago. I’ve never gotten to hold any of their cats, but I have been within about a foot of Ivan, the Siberian Lynx (when he was about a year old)

and… recently, I was at the Twilight Tour (their primary fundraising event), and they brought out Cous Cous on a leash. It was exciting to within a couple of feet of this adorable lion cub.

I highly recommend a visit to anyone that lives in (or is visiting) the Fresno area. It’s only about 45 miles from Fresno in the small foothills town of Dunlop. You travel right by The Cat Haven if you are driving up to the Kings Canyon or Sequoia National Parks (also highly recommended) on Hwy 180.

Ours is more of a multi-year plan. We’ve got 11 under our belt so far and probably done for the year. We buy a shot glass at each ball park as a souvenir. Our priority next year is both Chicago parks and maybe Seattle.

The big dilema is whether you have to visit the new ballpark if you’ve visited the old one previously. RFK has been replaced and next year Shea and Yankee will be replaced.

I’ve been to old and new Comisky, and walked away PISSED at what they had done. I wish I hadn’t ever gone to the Cell after that.

When you go to Wrigley, walk up the ramp with your eyes averted from the field. Then when you get to the top, close your eyes, take in the smell and the sounds. And THEN open your eyes. It will take your breath away. My first sight of that yard is one of the memories I will always have. It was that spectacular.

A local record store used to get demos and advance cassettes from all over, and they had no idea what to do with them. They’d let me dig through the box and take whatever I wanted for a buck. Most of them were duds (Mind Bomb! Season to Risk! Amygdala!), but one was an advance cassette of Kyuss’ “Wretch”, and I toted that thing around like a teddy bear my sophomore year in high school. Everyone has bands that they think of as “their” bands because they saw them in a high school gym in Duluth, etc…. Kyuss is mine.

One of my all-time great feats of oration was successfully explaining to my mom why a 15-year-old kid should be able to see Faith No More/Kyuss on a school night during finals week. If I could have bottled whatever I was selling that night…man.

Seeing this, I got a swelled head for like two seconds (“I’m somebody!”) until I saw the caption described me as an actor.
