by bondslegend on Jul 18, 2008 6:29 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I miss the days when sfgiants.com was its own website, not a subset of mlb.com. And knbr.com streamed Giants games for free.

by jcb9 on Jul 18, 2008 6:34 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Srsly

they still let the NFL games by, at least they did last year. I don’t know how that works, because they’re not supposed to.

by bondslegend on Jul 18, 2008 6:38 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

me too!

I miss the webcam the Giants used to have.

The fact that the dodgers website was soooo low tech was great fun also. Looked like it had been cobbled together by a couple of 13 year olds [no offense to any 13 year olds out there]

by Merope on Jul 18, 2008 6:39 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

They also sometimes had ticket giveaways. I got a couple of free tickets and a Giants mousepad for filling out a survey once. Of course, that was 1996, so the games were hardly worth free.

I just noticed that Cain had his hair cut. Anything to help break the sucky streak, I guess.

these brewer idiot announcers don’t seem to know that the east coast games were played already. Talking about the Mets going for 11 in a row tonight.

Is this gun hot? It’s showing Cain at 96-97

i think it's been hot for weeks

Zito was touching 90-91 in his last starter. Wilson’s consistently been hitting 100 ( i mean, some nights he’ll hit it 2-3 times in an at-bat).
It’s borderline ridiculous.

by ExcuseMeSwing on Jul 18, 2008 7:37 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

our gun has seemed hot since Zito started hitting 88 again

FunFact

Moneyball called Prince Fielder the only player too fat to be drafted by the A’s. He’s done a bit better than Jeremy Brown (was that his name? doesn’t look right).

I could be wrong, but I recall Terry Mulholland having a season when he had four hits – a single, a double, a triple, and a homer.

I've mentioned this before

But wen I was nine, I was in attendance at Dravecky’s comeback game. It was pretty incredible. Still the best game I’ve seen in person. And so sad a few days later in Montreal when he collapsed.

by bondslegend on Jul 18, 2008 7:48 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Just once in his fucking tenure, I’d like Bochy to actually look like he gives a shit when he argues a flagrantly bad call. JUST ONCE. I don’t want a Lou Pinella, but I’d like someone who appears to give a crap about his own team.

That's at least 2 losses that are directly attributable to the umps

Also: that will be an error to Bowk, making him look like a worse fielder. F the umps.

by ExcuseMeSwing on Jul 18, 2008 7:52 PM PDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I was just about to say I kind of like these Brewers announcers.

Speed, defense... and an almost fanatical devotion to getting picked off.

by SF Pete on Jul 18, 2008 7:53 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Case in point:

the brewers announcers keep saying the inning should be over b/c of that blown call. Most homer announcers would just brush it aside.
