Question from a Visiting Team's Fan
Hi there. I currently live in the Sacramento area, but I've been a lifelong Brewers fan. So, I'd like to come out to catch a game this weekend, and will probably come to the Saturday afternoon game.
The question I have is do Giants games often sellout certain price ranges? Am I best getting a ticket in advance or showing up on gameday? Would I be likely to have better luck with the box office or scalpers if I show up on the day of the game without a ticket?
The matchup is Sheets vs Sanchez and the game is at 1PM on Saturday, if that has any impact on attendance.
Thanks much

You should be able to get a ticket pretty easy walking up. I usually all my tix online and with the exception of the big promotion days, I rarely hear of any seating area or price range selling out quickly.

Yeah tickets will probably be available. I’ve bought tickets from scalpers before too, they give a pretty decent price if you want to take the risk :) I see them there all the time, so it’s not even a big deal anymore. Tickets online suck cause of all the transaction fees and things like that. So you should be fine getting a ticket. Plus it’s not like Bonds is about to break the record, or we’re playing the Dodgers :P
However, I think if you want decent seats, like on the sideline near the bags, you’ll have to buy them earlier (might not even have anymore available), if you don’t want to get pushed farther down towards the outfield for lower box seats. Go check the giants website for the seating chart.
Or check www.stubhub.com and search for the date ;)
If my head is full of white hairs by the end of this season.. I blame Brian Wilson. (I'm only 22, dammit!)

Plus Stubhub has the print tickets at home option, which is great. I bitched about stubhub here before, but I like it now. Can get some good dealz there and search for the exact place you wanna sit.

Avoid the guys in the FUBU full body track suits.
You can usually get great tix at the box office window that morning nowadays. It’s nice to talk to an actual person, especially if you’re picky about where you want to sit. I usually go with stubhub as mentioned above, as well, because they have a nice option to print tickets instantly for some sellers.
Have fun.

Yeah, have a seating map on hand ...
if you are going to deal with AT&T scalpers. I dealt with a couple guys back in the day who screwed me on seat location. I used to have one simple request, that tickets be on the first base side. Then I’d end up down the left field line. I accosted one of the guys a couple weeks later and called him on it, and he shot back at me with: “Well, you wanted to see Barry, didn’t you?” Of course, I never mentioned Barry Bonds in my initial request. Long story short … I got hustled.
So, if you’re going to deal with scalpers, just know what you want and make sure that’s what you get.

It might be a little riskier, but I buy all my Giants tickets from Craigslist(www.craigslist.com). Prices are better than StubHub or other ticket brokers, and you can view exact seat locations from sfgiants.com.

Welcome
Post here often; most of us enjoy hearing different viewpoints, although it’ll help if you have thick skin.
The Rivercats have an excellent minor league stadium, over near Old Sac, and your Nashville Sounds will visit there beginning July 30th – you should check it out.
Sacramento is a great place, no matter what PacBellBoozer says.

Dearest Lyle,
The Livestock Consortium and 4-H Grange of the North Valley Meadow Cake Region has just convened a rare Urgent Executive Session and voted you Man of the Year.

Ahh, mention of the Brewers and Sacramento
brings back memories of the Sacramento Solons. Sixto Lezcano, Gorman Thomas, Bill Caudill (was that his name?) cranking homers out of spacious Hughes Stadium. They were fun. Gorman Thomas taught me how to swear, loudly and evocatively.

It wasn’t Bill Caudill. Some guy named Bill, who hit about 55 home runs but never got called up. Damn, can’t remember his name.

yeah
both bill caudill and mike caldwell were pitchers, didn’t recognize the name.
Gorman Thomas was infamous for starting a fire in the locker room or something of that ilk – can’t find a reference…
In any case, that was a bit before my time. I was alive and all, just not old enough to appreciate baseball yet. Of course Molitor, Yount and Gantner were my heros growing up;)

Bill McNulty
That was the guy. He played for the A’s too. Yount and Molitor were later, never played for the Solons. I don’t remember any pitchers, but Bob Lemon was the manager at least part of that time.

The Solons were fun
The best part was the, what, 240-ft LF fence? Tried to shoehorn a baseball field into a track stadium.
I forget, did Yount come through there or not?

Just found that in wiki

I’m just waiting for Torres to fail again.

ack
he’ll probably blow the save on the last day of the season that would have forced a 1 game decision series with the cubbies. I hope not, as I want the brew crew over the cubs this year, but….

I live in fear that Torres will once again epically screw a team I support, when it counts the most.

If you don't like to drive...
and park… and deal with traffic…
You might consider taking Amtrak into the City. [transfer at Emeryville to the bus going to Cal-Train] Unfortunately it is “peak travel season” so fares are a bit higher.
Sometimes we drive part of the way in and then catch BART/MUNI. We usually deBART at Embarcadero and then catch the Judah – MUNI out to the park.
Don’t be frightened by public transit in SF… they actually have a transit “system” there; unlike Sacramento where it can take 2 hours to go 6 miles !

P.S.
I had a great time at the game
Getting out of the lot (B?) was a b*tch.
But beautiful park you have there;)
I sat directly above 3B in the upper deck.
