Bonds, Adam Dunn and Ichiro aren’t participating, so I’m not interested.
Also, Evan Longoria? Really?

I’m actually sort of excited to see him in this, but I agree, he really shouldn’t be there in the first place.

People's lives are ruined daily , this guy survived - and thrives.
I have this running battle with Jim McClennan , the “Grant” of AZ Snakepit over whether to give Hamilton kudos – he’s just down on him and I prop him up.
Read the SI article on Hamilton – while SI articles are usually pretty kissass – and this is no exception – there’s grim reality to deal with. Addiction is for life , and we’re ALL going to know if Hamilton fails. I , for one , hope he never does.

Good for him
there are plenty of other people going through exactly the same thing, they just can’t hit baseballs 500 feet, so somehow their plight is less important.
Srlsy, fuck off, Hamilton. I hope the dude stays off the smack, but I’m sick of having it shoved down my throat.

by Revolution1 on Jul 14, 2008 4:55 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
He has this way of saying things that really irritates me. I can’t explain it. They’ll be showing a clip of a game on BBTN and he’ll say something about one of the players and it’ll just make me want to reach into the television and punch him in the face. AND HE ALWAYS DOES IT.
It’ll be like, so-and-so hits a double and he’ll say, in this really weird condescending voice, “Not many people are noticing, but so-and-so is having a really great year”. If you watch BBTN and listen to what Kurkjian says during the highlights you’ll see what I’m talking about.
Also, he’s obsessed with stupid split stats and random trivia.
Matt Cain: He'll save children, but not the Dodger children.
by jponry on Jul 14, 2008 4:51 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Stop watching BBTN, I did!
I just like Kurkjian because he seems like he’s just a dorky fan of the game, not that he ever gives out great information.
by xanthan on Jul 14, 2008 4:54 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
this
Kurkjian’s geeky enthusiasm is the absolute best thing about BBTN.
It does not, however, make the show watchable. Thank you John Kruk.

No,
something is wrong with TV. I’m a young person, and I watch nothing but live sports, the office, and Top Gear. TV effing sucks now.
Also: ESPN single-handedly ruined the best weekly NFL broadcast the second they took over MNF. SNF w/ Micheals is the new MNF.
Wow, a lot of ESPN hate from me tonight. All that Hamilton sack sucking really wore on me at the gym.

Actually, I watched BBTN the other night for the first time in over a year and a half.
But Kurkjian did that thing that always irritated me and it made me angry.
I do appreciate that he seems to like the game though.

It is too long. For a television audience an hour would suffice; however I’m sure they charge an arm and a leg to attend the thing in person, and so… they have to drag it out into an “event”.
So we have the dorky first pitch, the “who are they again?” band and all the other time wasters.

Just wanna give a nice big
“FUCK YOU” to ESPN. Morneau wins the damn thing, then they spend the entire post game talking about Josh Hamilton. Wow- 28 HRs in one round. That’s great. That’s also why he lost the fucking derby. But hey- he did drugs! He’s so cool!
BTW, I’m from Minnesota. But not a Twins fan in any way- it just pisses me off how shitty ESPN is all the time now.

I know that he hit a bunch of HRs a long way, and that he used to do drubadkdakdadkldkandkndkbn, but, IMHO, they should have spent more than 10 seconds on the guy who actually WON the competition.
