“By the way: Troy Renck is reporting in his Sunday notebook that there is some buzz in San Francisco that Omar Vizquel may retire during the All-Star break.”

Sadness is if he waits till the end of the season. It shows great sack to do it in the middle of the season when you know the game has passed you by.

I have to agree, I’ve enjoyed Omar while he was with the Giants, hopefully when we think back on his time with us, it will be the good times rather than the struggling moments.
best play by omar in a giants uni
diving play in new york last year to make the game go into extras.
just to see armando blow the game…
My favorite was at Dodger Stadium when he started a double play turned and threw to Pedro at 3rd and caught Cody Ross sleeping at the bag.
It was on ESPN Sunday Night baseball and Jon Miller made the call. It was awesome.

plus his knee is mostly likely not completely healed, which has hindered his play some. that’s what it seems like anyway. nearly every time i see him on TV, the cameraman will zoom up on his knee brace at least once per game

bittersweet
Good for the team but I would have liked to have seen him one my time

well
considering The Enchanter is actually outhitting him….

I’m both relieved and sad about this at the same time :(
Matt Cain: He'll save children, but not the Dodger children.
Same. Omar was the greatest person and player I’ve ever spoken to. I love him for what he did for the Giants and baseball.
"While conservatives tell you 'leave things alone and no one will lose,' and liberals tell you 'interfere a lot and no one will lose,' baseball says 'someone will lose.' Not only says it - but insists upon it! ... Democracy is lovely, but baseball's more mature." BVCE supports SF Dugout and Manny Burriss.

As his "dad" it's my job to tell you to piss off.

F Lewis LF
J Castillo 3B
R Durham 2B
B Molina C
A Rowand CF
J Bowker RF
R Aurilia 1B
O Vizquel SS
T Lincecum P
you can substitute the 4 or C chord
for the relative minor (Am) in that last part.
also a straight-up 5 chord sounds a little better than the D7.

Much as I love the Enchanter
If you look at the pitching stats and consider that Dempster pitches in the Central, the only fair conclusion is that our best isn’t quite a match for their No. 2 (behind Zambrano). It’s these little reminders of how far we are from true contention that depress me.

hopefully he has fastball control today
here’s to timmy!
Kerry Wood has to skip the All Star game and they replaced him with Marmol and not like… Hamels?
Matt Cain: He'll save children, but not the Dodger children.
its ridiculous that Hamels isnt an all-star. he’s just nasty and having a good year, better than Dempster.
MLB was concerned that there wouldn’t be enough Cubs in the All Star Game.
by rightcenterfielder on Jul 13, 2008 11:39 AM PDT up reply actions
just heard that hamels is pitching today – just like about every other NL all-star starting pitcher. already, timmy, webb, and dempster aren’t available for the ASG. that might be why they went with marmol instead of hamels.
Ah
well there were still better choices out there than Marmol.

Both hits came after 0-2 counts and then waste pitches
by positiveuphemism on Jul 13, 2008 11:37 AM PDT up reply actions
the first "waste pitch" almost got Lee to swing for strike three
..it was the second he undersold.
Pitches out of the zone are good, when they elicit swings. A good “waste pitch” elicits a swing.
They weren’t good pitches, tho. Wasting pitches usually just adds pitches to your pitch counts and balls to the count. Look at how often Maddux has wasted pitches.
by positiveuphemism on Jul 13, 2008 11:41 AM PDT up reply actions
I'm not defending the four bad pitches
..but that first ‘waste’ pitch to Lee was close to being useful, so I just see that as a missed assignment. Missing your spots happens to the best, and Lincecum’s game is not Maddux’s and never will be. He’s going to miss spots; the trick will be, missing them less often.
You probably aren’t going to see Maddux bite off much of the strike zone 0-2… he’s not going 2 feet off the plate, but just sayin’.

He keeps throwing kind of fat pitches with 2 strikes :\
Matt Cain: He'll save children, but not the Dodger children.
He's found his swing!

Just turned on the game, how’s Tim looking so far?
I’m laid out on the couch, hurting your back sucks.
(no jokes Goofus)
He looks much better than last time. His velocity is back and his curve is biting. He’s also not missing up in the zone.
I noticed one change and it was a called strike 3.
by positiveuphemism on Jul 13, 2008 11:55 AM PDT up reply actions
Great strategy by Cubs
Lincecum can’t be used to that much sprinting
Lincecum
is just making sure he’ll keep his BA above Omar’s :D
I wonder if Dempster was pitching around Fred there

wow
great stolen base.. risky with a runner on 3rd and 1 out, but totally payed off
proud father of the newly acquired Brandon Crawford..
But Castillo still finds a way to not score the run,
all we needed was a ground ball!
Giants! Giants! HELP US GOD!
How could he miss?

making dempster throw pitches is big today.
especially since wood is out and marmol threw over 30 yesterday.
quick, promote him to Fresno

Do I dare watch this game on WGN?
I have very, VERY basic cable, and one of the few cable networks I have is WGN. This is one of the very few times in the year I can actually watch a Giants game.
But then again, it’s WGN.

tim and dempster have beef?
anybody watching the game on TV? they mentioned something on the radio about tim yelling at dempster after he flied out.
