OT: Take me out to the ballgame!

Will someone please tell Peter Gammons to not give up his day job? (scroll down for his "entry")
So here's the deal...I'm a bit conflicted. I love, love, loves me some Ozomatli, but I'm not a big fan of their rendition. That's most definitely because they're pimping the whores in blue, but ya...I guess we can't all be perfect.
I'm really liking the "ol' timer" rendition by the Punch Brothers. That's the way the song is supposed to be played. Also, has anyone ever heard of these guys before? What's their claim to fame?
As for Gretchen Wilson...uh, ya...who knew she was transformed into a teenie-bopper ala Miley Cyrus, BLAH.....I've always kinda liked her because she wasn't that stereotypical female country artist...but ya...she murdered the song and if I could give her a -1,000,000 I would.
To the REO Speedwagon dudes....uh, ya...just give up already. Talk about being uninspired!
Candlebox - FAIL....a guitar solo?!? Just what were you thinking?
It's really a shame that Branford Marsalis wasn't a finalist, because he'd surely be getting my vote. The musicianship coming out of this guy is 2nd to none when compared to the rest of the dreck on that page.
Your thoughts?

The Branford Marsalis rendition gets my vote too.
"While conservatives tell you 'leave things alone and no one will lose,' and liberals tell you 'interfere a lot and no one will lose,' baseball says 'someone will lose.' Not only says it - but insists upon it! ... Democracy is lovely, but baseball's more mature." BVCE supports SF Dugout and Manny Burriss.

Branford Marsalis is the only one that should even be considered, frankly. Folks that saw this similar post over at BBTF, sorry, but IMO they all fail (save Marsalis) because they all (last I checked) sing ‘I don’t care if I ever get back’ – it’s never, not ever, and I can’t think of a more lame tribute than to get the lyrics wrong. Maybe it’s nitpicky, but what’s the point if you can’t even get the lyrics to the second most famous song in America right?
I mean, have these people never gone to a baseball game and sung along with the bouncing ball and lyrics on the scoreboard?
Proud new parent of Mr. Buster Posey... you know, if he signs and stuff.

My pet peeve is when people say “Cracker Jacks” instead of “Cracker Jack”. (or sing it in the song)
2008 Giants: Scrappy! Scrappy! Joy! Joy!
I always thought it went “Buy me some peanuts and crackers, Jack…”

Punch Brothers
They’re fronted by mandolinist Chris Thile, formerly of Nickel Creek, who got his start as an appallingly talented child prodigy (12 years old when Nickel Creek recorded their first album). Despite being a native Californian an growing up in San Diego County, Thile is a lifelong Cubs fan, which has to count as a point against him. I still think they win by default, since the choice is between them, the Dodger fans, or Wilson’s hideously overproduced take.
Anyway, Nickel Creek was kind of on the avant-garde edge of the very conservative world of bluegrass music, and Punch Brothers has taken that even further.
