Open Gameday Thread, 7/1

Chicago Cubs at San Francisco Giants, Jul 1, 2008 7:15 PM PDT

Visiting our sister site, Bleed Cubbie Blue, I'm struck by a couple of things:

1. Cubs fans pity us. They know our pain, and they pity that pain. I'm not sure how that should make me feel.

2. The blogger for Bleed Cubbie Blue uses a lot more widgets for his gamethreads than I do. There is a widget gap. Therefore, I'm going to try out some widgets for this gamethread.

We should switch Cain and Vizquel in the order.

Bochy should put Cain in the cleanup spot, just for the hell of it.

Hey if we can all agree that being a fan of these teams is misery, pain, and futility, day in and day out, then we can surely be friends.

re: Vizquel

As I recall, in yesterday’s pregame, Bochy said Burriss would start against “some lefties.” So, I’m not too surprised he’s not playing today. Irritated and baffled, but not surprised.

We also both suffered through Neifi getting far more playing time than he deserved.

With that having been said, living on Chicago’s North Side for three years killed off any desires I might have had to feel communion with Cubs fans.

Also!

About to start on toight’s dinner – Chilaquiles with chorizo. Last time I made it, I forgot to cook the chorizo before assembling the dish, so I ended up having to bake the whole thing for quite a while to cook it. Which meant we ate very late and it ended up basically being a soggy casserole. The bar is low – it will be better this time! Huzzah!

Something I love to bring up

the year before Frank Gore led the NFC in rushing, EVERY ESPN analyst said the 9ers would be dead last in the league for rushing yards, and that Frank Gore doesn’t “get it”. They are idiots, and nothing they say should ever be taken seriously. They pay guys like Stu scott and Steven a Smith. They are a joke.

It was written. He stays.
