Open Gameday Thread, 7/1
Chicago Cubs at San Francisco Giants, Jul 1, 2008 7:15 PM PDT
Visiting our sister site, Bleed Cubbie Blue, I'm struck by a couple of things:
1. Cubs fans pity us. They know our pain, and they pity that pain. I'm not sure how that should make me feel.
2. The blogger for Bleed Cubbie Blue uses a lot more widgets for his gamethreads than I do. There is a widget gap. Therefore, I'm going to try out some widgets for this gamethread.

Hey if we can all agree that being a fan of these teams is misery, pain, and futility, day in and day out, then we can surely be friends.

re: Vizquel
As I recall, in yesterday’s pregame, Bochy said Burriss would start against “some lefties.” So, I’m not too surprised he’s not playing today. Irritated and baffled, but not surprised.
Also!
About to start on toight’s dinner – Chilaquiles with chorizo. Last time I made it, I forgot to cook the chorizo before assembling the dish, so I ended up having to bake the whole thing for quite a while to cook it. Which meant we ate very late and it ended up basically being a soggy casserole. The bar is low – it will be better this time! Huzzah!
you people and your west coast schedules, getting to eat dinner during the game. man, dinner was three hours ago. why do you have to tease me?
haha, no worries. i just forget sometimes. and yes, it is my fault i live in nebraska. i am ashamed.

You guys, after that horrible outing, I think it’s time to just admit to ourselves that Matt Cain might not be it.
Matt Cain: He'll save children, but not the Dodger children.
Since Cain isn't a part of our future plans
can we trade him for Maddux?

Jonathan Sanchez. He's left-handed, like Barry Zito. His fastball breaks 80, unlike Zito.
Do you think they’re going to take him out?

he gets yanked after three batters, all of whom the bullpen allows to score and he gets the loss.

Ok
so cain’s pitched 7 strong innings, thrown 102 pitches….and youre going to let him come out for the 8th? Thanks for losing the game, boch.
meh
let him come back out, but don’t let him get into any situation where he can lose the game. One baserunner and he’s out.
thanks Dusty

I hate Bruce Bochy
Also, Castillo and Vizquel just needed three pitches to make their two outs.
Only 890 games until the end of Zito's contract
TAKE A GODDAMN PITCH
pls? Do the Giants want to watch Cain pitch as much as we do?
PS – why is Cain hitting?
Jonathan Sanchez. He's left-handed, like Barry Zito. His fastball breaks 80, unlike Zito.
never mind
clearly better than Omar.

Why would we get rid of our best youngish position player? WTF? OMGBBQ!

Anything said on ESPN should be discounted out of hand.

Yeah I kinda know that but still WTF?
I am Cameron Wood and this is my son and business partner CW Culberson.
Something I love to bring up
the year before Frank Gore led the NFC in rushing, EVERY ESPN analyst said the 9ers would be dead last in the league for rushing yards, and that Frank Gore doesn’t “get it”. They are idiots, and nothing they say should ever be taken seriously. They pay guys like Stu scott and Steven a Smith. They are a joke.

Is gameday correct?
Is Marquis hitting? or is it too early for them to put a pinch hitter in there?
Only 890 games until the end of Zito's contract
Jon Miller likes Fred
It was written. He stays.
"While conservatives tell you 'leave things alone and no one will lose,' and liberals tell you 'interfere a lot and no one will lose,' baseball says 'someone will lose.' Not only says it - but insists upon it! ... Democracy is lovely, but baseball's more mature." BVCE supports SF Dugout and Manny Burriss.
