The Zito Cure

I know we might be tiring a little after all the Barry Zito contract, overpaying, underperforming, mumbo jumbo, however, I believe I have the solution to finally gaining some sort of positive production without having it shot down or turned into negativity as a result of Zito's very next start.  We've seen signs of old school 2002 American League Cy Young award winning Zito, but only on the road (against Florida, Washington, and Cleveland), in my opinion, I honestly believe that the Giants should stick to pitching their one hundred twenty six million dollar man only on the road, just because of the simple fact that the pressure of pitching at home in front of the fans that have booed him before and threaten booing him again when he walks the first two batters in front of Geovany Soto, gets to him. There's been rumors and talk of the Giant's "ace" to be a head case or unable to handle the responsibilities of being Barry in San Francisco, and rightfully so, not many human beings are able to fill the shoes of Barry Bonds, especially with a $126 million contract hanging over their heads and with spoiled, restless fans yearning for a team reminiscent of the early 2000's.  Go Giants! Go Zito! Cainer Tomorrow, show me something Matty.

Oh dude,

wait until the Regulars wake up…. they are going to crap on you for another stupid Zito Fanblog… or whatever these things are called. My advice: Don’t take it personally.

I’d hate to be you in the morning…

We’ve seen signs of old school 2002 American League Cy Young award winning Zito

So without reading any more than that, I’m assuming that you’re suggesting we get a time machine and kidnap 2002 Zito to play for us for the next few years, replacing him in his own timeline with an unripe pear, while sending current Zito 17 years into the future so he can bang Suri Cruise guilt free?

This sounds win-win to me. Anybody else on board?

I would accept this plan....

if only for this Saturday. Mrs. NVSFG and I traveling down for our first game this season, and Zito is scheduled to start..

I would much prefer that the 2002 Zito be in attendance.

this

is overkill.

you need to give Zito a bit of a chance. his output was not amazing in this last game but there were definite examples of actual talent. The guy was a first round pick who has pitched in the majors for years. The “pressure isn’t getting him, it’s his mechanics.

Baseball is a precision sport. It requires a body to repeat precisely the same motion 1,000 times in a season for optimal success. If this doesn’t happen, as it hasn’t with Zito, things go wrong. What he needs to do is find his mechanics and replicate that action and he’ll be maybe an alright pitcher again.

Before one makes snap judgements about players in this manner, please try to step back and look at Cause vs. Effect.

Was that a crap on, Inside the Coke Bottle?

I don’t think Zito is going to turn this around in one game. The game he pitched well against was the Indiains which is one of the worst hitting teams in the bigs, so that start should be taken with a grain of salt. One thing I did not notice last night was that he was hitting 88-89mpn pretty consistently which shows me that he might have found his arm slot. Now that he has finally found it, I think it’s gonna take some time for him to get used to throwing that “hard” again and regain any type of control he had. The ump last night did not help at all with that awkward strike zone and the Castillo error was not a positive.

All in all, I think Zito will improve….I would give him 3 more starts till he becomes respectable. In his third start from now which would be….against the Brewers 7/20? I predict 6IP 4H 1ER 2BB 5K and the win. You heard it hear first!

Bill Mueller? I expect at least A-Rod type numbers from my son, Conor Gillaspie

the irony of last night

was that by the time Zito left, it turned into a road game.

Zito’s next start is against LA I believe? I’m not advocating getting Dodgers gear….that would make the world implode.

But perhaps the L.A. usual? Arrive late, lots of waves, beach ball action, leave around the 6th or 7th?

Get it together Zito! If you do, we'd have an awesome pitching lineup >=)

The Giants need to string together some hits and produce some offense while he’s up there =X For lincecum and sanchez… they’ve had huge leads before. I don’t know the number, but does anyone know the highest amount of runs scored in a game while Zito’s on the mound (not counting after he leaves the game…)?

::But I guess it doesn’t help when he leaves the game in the 2nd inning, etc etc =(::

Also, the road-only Zito might be a good idea… I’m not saying he’d do any better than he does at home, but being boo’ed at home really sucks. And I’d like the Giants to win some home games dammit! I don’t like the fact that I have to pick and choose to go to games where only certain starting pitchers are pitching! >=(

...Go Cain! (I got your autographed card in a baseball card pack the other day) =)

A fresh idea

I listen to this daily radio show from Washington D.C. via podcast and they have inspired me to come up with a solution to this Zito situation of ours.

They do a segment called “River or Life” and during said segment, callers must decide to either “save” the person in question (usually someone with a horrific physical abnormality), or “throw them in a burlap sack and toss them to the briny depths”. Ya, ya, ya…I know it’s not a very PC thing to do and it’s all done in fun, but I’m beginning to think that if we could get Zito folded up into a sack, it’s off to the river (or bay) for our much maligned “ace”.

P.S. If anyone is interested, the show I lifted this from is called the Big O and Dukes show. They’re on 106.7 WJFK in Washington, but their podcasts are available online at either wjfk.com or on iTunes. Typically their topics include pop-culture, video game, comic, MMA, and food/booze news…really cool show, so if you’re interested, give them a listen, will ya.

I can barely listen to LIVE 105 anymore. I don’t like their talk segments at all, and they almost exclusively play music that I’m either sick of because I listened to it 38,789 times in the ‘90s or that sucks because it’s whiny 30 Seconds to Mars.

Sorry. In high school, I used to love LIVE. Now, I constantly feel like it’s afraid to play good new music because it’s doing so well playing mediocre old music. Also, my musical tastes have evolved since high school, so it doesn’t make sense that I’d necessarily like the same radio stations anyway.

HOLD IT-- What??!! The Giants signed Zito??!!!

And if I’m interpreting this post correctly, he’s apparently not doing a Cy Young-type job??? And there are differing opinions on whether and/or how much he can improve???

Wow. I guess I’ve just had my head so focused on this Bush vs. Gore election to even notice stuff that’s happened in the past few days. Insider election tip: keep your eye on Florida’s voting equipment; fingers crossed that it all goes smoothly.

Let me get this straight…

You are all smiles over sniffing the smelly 10 year old scab encrusted band aid Zito’s uses for a Jock but you think Cain needs to show you something? Here is hopeing you don‘t see something to "impress" you for 20 years from either Tim, Matt, or Sanchez.

There has to a block feature some were in the new Mac Chron profile page. And you are just about to motivate me to find it. Congrats.

Just as every great pitcher has a bad game, every bad pitcher has a good game. The guy is done and the only reason Giants fans cant accept it is because they are on the hook for another 100,000,000 before this train wreck is over.
