Open Gameday Thread: The Thrilling Conclusion
I wonder if there's some sort of operation that can replace eight of the thumbs on Ray Durham's hands with real fingers. Maybe we can pass the hat around and start a collection.

I miss the old Barry
..you know, the one who could actually play baseball.
There are Giant position players
who are probably better pitchers than Zito
I hitch my star to the Zito Bandwagon
For one day.
Just one day, mind you.
And that’s only if he doesn’t come out for the sixth.
the problem is if Holm gets on, I can see Bochy keeping Zito in to bunt him over

would be funny
if i wasn’t sure it wouldnt happen
Billy Hayes: Nine more big-league plate appearances than you.
3 straight games with 10 hits!
27-35.... But 20-6 when Timmy/Dirty pitch. 7-29 otherwise. Yikes! But yay!
Krukow's on some nonsense
about letting the starter go 5 so he can be in line for the win. Sheesh
Billy Hayes: Nine more big-league plate appearances than you.
You don't think that's why Zito pitched the 5th?
That is the ONLY REASON he hit for himself in the top of the inning. Bochey is a fucktard.
oh, i know, no question
And Krukow is saying Acta made a mistake by not letting Mock finish the 5th, which is just silly,
Billy Hayes: Nine more big-league plate appearances than you.
Zito is pitching just about as poorly as one can and still be in line for the win. This is not good

Taschner rocking the horseshoe ‘stache!
Billy Hayes: Nine more big-league plate appearances than you.
Well, if anything happens to Wilson, we now know Agent Jack can step in as closer. He now has THE LOOK.
Kruk keeps calling it a Fu Manchu

I just tuned in, so thanks for the reality check

My son and I went to the game today
for four innings. Hotter than hell, we bailed, and the Giants of course then scored 4. Bowker was creaming the ball—that double play he hit into was a shame, because his previous two fouls were absolutely crushed. Nice to see the homer.

Durham has 13 doubles in 160 AB – not bad. He’s been hitting mostly singles, but that’s a whole lot better than his previous plan of hitting fly balls that didn’t go out of the park.

Instant Genius Analysis
Because I happen to agree completely
Line Drive % 2008 – 21.4%
Line Drive % 2007 – 13.4% (yikes!)
FB% down to 32.5% from 41.3%
GB% almost the same.
Basically, he has turned fly balls into line drives, and his BABIP is .347 compared to last year’s .238 (OUCH). That BABIP isn’t alarmingly high for a guy with a 21.4% LD rate either.

Hey, 6 road wins in a row
Matt Cain looks at the winning streak, the number of runs scored by his guys this weekend (10, 6 and 6), the fact that he’s starting tomorrow, and gives a deep sigh.
Also, I’m glad this team is winning with Winn and Durham in the lineup, but for the love of god, please tell me the only reason they’re starting is that so we can show off their shiny stats to other teams before the trading deadline.
Eagerly awaiting Crazy Crab Bobblehead Night on 7/18.
