Open Gameday Thread, 6/28
San Francisco Giants @ Oakland Athletics
Pre-game trivia time on this sunny and smoky Lincecum Day.
The Best Damn Sports Show recently aired a show of the 50 most bizarre sports plays in history. The Giants figured prominently in four of the 50 entries, including two of the top ten.
Name those plays. Bonus points for singling out the two that were in the top ten.

most bizarre in sports history?
I love the Giants, but how they can be in the top ten at all eludes me. Sports history includes things like The Play and La Mano De Dios. Even being blown off the mound doesn’t top that stuff.

this is a night game, isn’t it?? Why the early gameday?? And I know it’s Timmy day, but this Duscherer has been awesome this year. Timmy can’t win if the Giants get shut out.

I dunno – in yesterday’s gameday thread, I learned it was possible to have a lower on-base percentage than batting average. With that in mind, getting shut out and still winning seems almost possible.

I’m too lazy to go look this up – how is it possible? I noticed that one of the Padres (or was it one of the Twins) had this feat, but couldn’t work out how they achieved it.

I just want to say, again
How fucking irate I am about this goddamn Sat evening gametime bullshit. Saturday afternoons are made for doing stupid fucking chores around the house, or changing your oil, or fixing your bike, and LISTENING TO THE FUCKING GAME ON THE RADIO IS THE ONLY THING THAT MAKES THESE CHORES BEARABLE. So fuck you, FOX. Fuck you right in the earhole.

Sorry guys, I disagree. I like the night games on Saturday. It’s the only way we get to watch it on Direct TV. Otherwise it’s the Fox blackout. I guess it’s a pain for the younger guys who like to go out on Saturday night, but us older guys with the families like to spend our Saturday nights watching baseball. In fact, my plans for tonight is seeing The Hulk and then coming back and watching the game. Hulkamania running wild baby!! Oh sorry, wrong Hulk.

Agreed to a certain degree. My prob is that Padres games are almost always night games, and I have season tickets down here… so instead of seeing Timmy vs. The Duke, I’m going to be watching the last place Mariners vs. the last place Padres with the girlfriend. !@#$^x%x I might just bring my XM and headphones…

strictly from memory
4) Mullholland tosses glove and ball to first for the out.
3) Kevin Mitchell making the barehanded catch.
and in the Top 10
2) Randy Johnson vs. the feathered friend and Giants in spring training game.

Bumgarner just finished 5
Seems to be using his curve ball alot. He was having some control issues, but still pitched well. The defense behind him was atrocious. Culberson committed 2 errors in the inning, 1 of which was a double play ball he let go through his legs. Bumgarner had the runner at first picked off but Villalona dropped the ball for the 3rd error of the inning. Bumgarner had to get 5 outs in that inning.

God no kidding. A friend posted a link to a website that rents the dolls out—a new level of WTF for me. An even newer level of WTF, the website suggested renting them for bachelor parties!
Look, if you wanna stick your dangle in something plastic, okay. But renting a sex doll out…to fornicate with at a gathering with other men….just…what?

Well I can honestly say having a luminescent vagina would improve my life. Maybe I wouldn’t bump into things at night.
