And here I didn’t think it was possible for a baseball player to have a less macho name than Madison Bumgarner.

It’s Channel 11 nowadays, or channel 3 on cable systems. Which is weird. The Giants are supposed to be on Channel 2 and NBC is supposed to be Channel 4.

Could be worse – could’ve been the days before the Internet, when all you got as a Giants fan on the east coast was a box score in the paper the next day. Sometimes two days later. That sucked.

Is it true that the A’s took out a full page ad saying WHAT BATTLE?
Because if so…
"While conservatives tell you 'leave things alone and no one will lose,' and liberals tell you 'interfere a lot and no one will lose,' baseball says 'someone will lose.' Not only says it - but insists upon it! ... Democracy is lovely, but baseball's more mature." BVCE supports SF Dugout and Manny Burriss.

There was a half page one in the Chronicle today that said something like “Battle of the Bay!” but they crossed out Battle and it said, “It’s not really a battle if we’ve won 8 of 9 MIRITE?”

A few years back I went to a Giants-A’s game. On the ferry back to Oakland, there were some A’s fans with shirts showing needles and the phrase “San Francisco BALCOS – Guilty.”
It’s always great when other teams’ fans are self-righteous over the Giants and steroids, but it was especially brilliant with A’s fans, what with their major offensive stars of the last twenty years – you know, Canseco, McGwire, Giambi, and Tejada – are all totally beyond suspicion.

has the right to be self-righteous, because EVERY FUCKING TEAM did steroids. That’s why it’s called an epidemic.

All this reminds me of the worst game I ever attended. Giants-Dodgers doubleheader at Candlestick. Late 80s/Early 90s. Dodgers crushed us in both games, fans had dozens and dozens of brawls, some started trying to climb over the fence to go after Dodgers outfielders. It was after that game that they stopped selling beer in the late innings and put limits on how many you could buy at once. It was also one of three games I’ve ever left early – ‘cause my dad feared for our safety. Not good times, not good times.
