Schulman blog reporting a bullepen callup
speculation centers around Romo (you know Sergio?) and Espinelli I guess. Who should we hope gets the boot? Any chance that they would send a position player down to make room for an extra arm? Is there any chance that this would make much of a difference?
Wow, this team really does suck. It sucks in so many ways that it's difficult to measure out 75 words of expressing the suck. Should the new team slogan be "you're going to like these suck?" Or perhaps, "Humm baby, these guys suck?"

As long as it’s not Munter.
And they may as well send down Denker, there’s no point in him rotting on the bench up here.
Matt Cain: He'll save children, but not the Dodger children.
And take ABs away from Downs?!
Hopefully Durham is gone by this time next month and Denker starts seeing some more PT.
who plays second for Fresno? Ay-Ooh-Hay-Knee-Oh?
Matt Cain: He'll save children, but not the Dodger children.
Downs for 3B!
I’ve noted this before but 3B in Fresno is currently manned by a diseased ash tree.

especially since he’s hit so well in his small sample size :(
Matt Cain: He'll save children, but not the Dodger children.
there was an article in the chronicle this morning where he defended it.
I made a >:( face at the paper.

The Giants are set in their "prospects as bench players" ways
Only 896 games until the end of Zito's contract

I love Romo as well. He’s such a cool guy plus he throws a million different arm angles. Welcome Sergio!

No way they send down a position player...
...and have only 4 guys on the bench, one of whom is the backup catcher.
The obvious candidates to be sent down are Chulk (who’s struggling) or either Sadler or Hinshaw (as the last guys up). Hinshaw’s been pitching too well, and is one of only two lefties in the pen, so I think he stays. I’m not sure about Chulk’s option status – I don’t think he has any left, which means they’d have to DFA him. I would bet on Sadler being the one just by process of elimination, even though he’s pitched decently.
Of course, it’s also possible someone is going on the DL, in which case all bets are off.

Chulk does suck. Haven’t seen him pitch well once. I would rather watch Sadler try to harness his 95 mph fastball than watch this chump anyday.

Chulk pitched very well and consistently before his circulation problems last season. He hasn’t been good this year, but he has been very good in the past and there is reason to believe that he could be very good again in the future.
Anyway, why lose an arm altogether when you still have options on different guys who are also struggling right now?

Whoops, should have read farther down. Chulk DFA’d. Oh well.
I still think it’s a bit of a waste, but at least we’re kind of dedicated to playing youth SOMEWHERE. Even if it’s not at the plate.

i should really count before i post…. the giants have two open spots on the forty with lowry and frandsen on the 60
by OmahaGiants on Jun 24, 2008 12:41 PM PDT up reply actions
Frandsen is, but Roberts isn't
He’s been on the 15-day DL for more than 60 days, so his return date wouldn’t change (sadly).

FWIW, Schul’s blog is no longer saying anything. Actually theres a headline, “bullpen change coming” but I can’t get any text.
Chulk is so bad, maybe he is hurt. If he isnt hurt, I can only say good luck, Vinnie
Sadler has options but I like him with the big club. And he’s the best righty to follow Sanchez as I keep saying.
adopter/sponsor of "Go, Antoan" Richardson
gotta be sadler or chulk, right?
i’ll say that unless Vinnie (or someone else) is headed to the DL, Billy’s going down. I just don’t see the Giants giving up on a reliever who started out the season fairly effectively.
Chulk DFA, Romo up
It’s on Baggarly’s blog
I just want to say that I hated it from the minute I heard about it.

TK can attest to the profanity laden text I sent her when she texted me about the trade.

I’d been away from the internet for the weekend with some of my frands and I got back and my dad was like, “We traded for Hildebrand!” and I was like “HILLENBRAND? NOOOOOOOOO!!!!”
Then I saw who we traded for him and I was really pissed.
Matt Cain: He'll save children, but not the Dodger children.
Jeremy was traded for Chulk straight up, and Hillenbrand was basically bought with cash.
Another trademarked Sabean FAILURE success.

No matter how much you hate Chulk, this is not good news.
Only 896 games until the end of Zito's contract
Vinnie, Shea and AJ
They will forever be linked as the guys that Sabean dumped for nothing after trading off a fantastic bullpen arm to get them (yes, Hillenbrand left via free agency, but the result was the same)
Only 896 games until the end of Zito's contract
I guess I can share this story now. I knew this gal from Toronto via LiveJournal a while back and she said she was friends with some groupie girls. One of these girls slept with Chulk and she walked around like it made her hot shit. I laughed for about ten minutes solid when I heard that story.

Was her face scratched up from Chulk's neverending 5 o'clock shadow?
Yeah that was the same reaction I made when I found out the office slut at my job slept with Zito.

I know a girl who hooked up with Steve Lyons and Steve Sax. Not at the same time though.
Speed, defense... and an almost fanatical devotion to getting picked off.

why wasn’t Romo in Fresno with those numbers? Or is my bar for low minors dominance too low?
you can't block the Bocock
Who do you think Romo will outperform?
Currently I rank the bullpen performance thus:
1. Wilson
2. Taschner
3. Walker
4. Yabu
5. Hinshaw (needs more IP)
6. Sadler
Unless he’s just totally overwhelmed by the jump, I can imagine we can get better performance out of him than we’ve gotten from Sadler.

That one has an even better angle…

I would feel bad about the Accardo trade if he wasn’t hurt. But he is, and other than last year hasn’t been too good for Toronto.
Chulk always sucked, glad he is gone. BYE BYE.
I feel bad for Jeremy, he was abused. Toronto just kept throwing him out there just about every game ever since last year. Now his arm is ready to fall off. Accardo’s last appearance was on May 5th.

Chulk didn’t always suck, though. He was pretty good last year. ERA+ 124. His WHIP this year wasn’t bad at all either… he had other problems this year, but there are signs that his problems this season could have been flukey.

Yeah, he had a nice season in ‘07 but he was helped by a low HR/F of 3.9%. His career average is 8.7%. Still, not a terrible middle relief arm. He’ll get picked up by another team.
he's mediocre
Not exactly anything special.
+1
Especially since every year, several mediocre relievers have great seasons.
Less arm, more talk. Raisingcain is a GAMER.
Adopted Giant: Henry Sosa
Exactly
People forget that you aren’t going to have a whole pen of super relievers. Mediocre is a whole lot better than Scott Munter.
