Kyle Davies has an ERA of 1.46 in four starts, but his peripherals (12 walks and 12 strikeouts in 24.2 innings) don't match up with the sparkly ERA. The Giants will keep his ERA low; don't get me wrong. But there's still a chance the Royals will make an error, which will allow Tim Lincecum to drive in a run with a double. A fella can dream.

Seriously, I’m wondering how long he’s been batting LH. Also, why must they make him into a slap hitter? I know he’s fast, but I’d rather have my speedy SS hitting it to the gap, instead of trying to slap a basehit through the hole. Unless he has Tony Gwynn bat control, there is no reason to create slap hitters.

I’m not sure. He definitely had raw talent, but he’s way over his head this year, and his HR rate is really, really low, especially in that ballpark.
He is still pretty young – maybe something just clicked with him. Maybe Cincinnati saw something that Texas didn’t.

when you say nothing he has done prior, are you referring to his stats or his stuff. he’s young enough to be making massive strides in peripherals if his stuff has always been there.

There's okay, and there's okay... this is the former
I see what you’re saying about it being okay in the sense that it won’t PROBABLY affect outcome of the came. But it still bugs me, because it shows that we aren’t playing the actual game well, that we don’t do things - such as avoid grounding out weakly to SS w/bases loaded and 2 outs - that it takes to move so many runners across that pointy white rubbery thingie. So it’s okay, but it’s not okay okay.

IF he’s not locating than the pitch is the issue today is it not? Pitching is about keeping the hitters off-balanced. This is the major leagues, as good as his fastball is, these guys can hit it pretty easily if they know its coming. ESPECIALLY when he’s making location mistakes.
What do you know he just got a swing thru K on a changeup.

He’s been hurt this year though. Seems to get hurt a lot actually. But prior to injury he was still holding his own pretty well in AA at age 19. He doesn’t walk so much yet though.
