Who knew? He was a Jew!

From the Chron:

Horwitz is the first Jewish player on the Giants since the 1995-96 tenure of pitcher Jose Bautista.

Jose freakin' Bautista?!?  The guy whose last name means "Baptist"?  Well, here's an ESPN article for you:

Jose Bautista, a baseball journeyman whose mother is Israeli and father Dominican, honored his faith. Bautista, who pitched for five teams in a ten-year career that ended in 1997, told the Village Voice, "My family and I go to synagogue when we can and we pray every Friday. We fast on Yom Kippur and not only do I not pitch, I don't even go to the ball game."

Now you know!

Jewspanics! I thought I was the only one! Well, I was honorary Jew while I was seeing a Jewish boy. I really got into it.

My wife is Dominican and I’m a Jew. I guess my eight year old son is a Jewspanic too. He looks like his mother, (lucky for him) but somehow turned out as white as I am. He’s proud of it too, the little racist!!

My best friend’s wife is Jewish and Chinese. We’re making plans for a huge seder dinner next year.

yeah, I know. At least I was able to keep him out of the Catholic school my wife wanted to send him to!! She also wanted to take him to a Catholic religion class, and when I protested she said I had to take him to a Jewish class every week instead because he had to have some religious training. Since laziness dominates over Jewishness, I told her to take him to the church!

Shame...

If I had to suffer through it for a decade, so will my kids….

/Gotta get the future mother to convert.
//Want to have a Jewish Barnstorming baseball team like in this comic.

Interesting stuff. I hope they rerun it so I can see this.

My friend just suggested “The Matzah Baller” for Brian Horwitz’ new nickname. I kinda like it!

Bautista, huh

I’m going to have to be asking my dad (the world’s most honored MOT baseball fan) about that one.

Notgardo, I still love you -- but you're grounded. No Guitar Hero for a month, no Cheez-Its for two months, and NO BASEBALL! This hurts me as much as it hurts you.
