Possible ChiSox hookup?

I'm sure all of you have heard Ozzie Guillen's rant about how Kenny needs to do something.

Now that we know that Sabean is willing to deal the vets away, wouldn't now be a good time?  Idk, there could be a lot of issues that need to be worked out.

I think I would consider trying to entice them w/ Winn and Durham considering that they are hitting pretty well and playing decent D.  To be honest, Winn would be an upgrade over the now slumping Swisher(.201 BA) and Durham would be an upgrade over the tandem of Uribe an Ramirez.

Why this makes sense: This would give Ozzie 2 solid bats to work with assuming that Durham will stay true to his .275 BA or above.  Winn should stay solid as well.  Another thing is that Durham's contract ends after this season, so they don't have to stay with him.  And Winn has an extra year however, he is pretty solid and could be a fourth OF next year if Swisher finds his swing sometime this year or next year.

Why this doesn't make sense: Alexei Ramirez just caught fire and could be on his way to getting into a groove.  Swisher can also find his swing as well however he will prolly only find his power swing as his track record shows.  Durham and Winn have pretty bad contracts, in a year's time they would add 15.5 mill or less considering that we are part way into the season, and 8.25 in futures.  Which is not exactly nice.

Any possible thoughts on this or ideas?  Who could we get back(I dont know the ChiSox's farm very well) or if this could work at all.

Swish will be fine

Dude can rake, plain and simple. Winn is not an upgrade, or even a stopgap.

I suppose they might want to rent Ray Ray for half a year, he’d be a fan fave pickup anyway. Have the ChiSox send us a case of sunflower seeds in return.

hes worth at least 2 cases

but i agree, ray makes a little sense, winn makes none. if they wanted another OF they could just bring up jerry owens again

There might be limits

I know that Winn has a no-trade list, but I remember reading somewhere that Durham might as well. Have any of you heard anything about this? And how willing would Durham be to return to Chicago?

Look, I’m all for moving these guys, and once Xavier Nady has been dealt by the Bucs this summer, Winn becomes the most attractive RF/CF option out there to a contending team. But he gets a say on where he goes. As for Durham, he would be valuable to perhaps a smaller number of teams.

It’s not a full no-trade clause. Before the season he listed 10 teams that he can’t be traded to. As Natto mentioned below, the rumor is that the 10 teams consist of the AL and NL central divisions.

Winn has a no trade clause

In his contract (How stupid can the Giants be to sign him to anything including a NT clause?) that gives him veto over where he’s traded. I have a feeling he’s staying in Cali so unless we want to trade him to a division rival or the Angels/A’s are interested, he’s probably going nowhere this season.

Durham, I’d trade for a case of Grey Goose & all the ocean spray cran I can drink.

unless I'm mistaken...

It’s a actually a limited no trade clause that let’s him pick something like 10 teams he doesn’t want to be traded to. anywhere else is fair game. I think I read somewhere though, that those particular teams for which Winn wouldn’t want to play are in the NL and AL Central divisions, so yeah, the ChiSox are probably off limits.

The thing is, I believe Winn’s no-trade clause lists NL/AL Central teams as the teams he wouldn’t go to, so that would be tricky to work out.

That looks like the internal workings of my brain desperately trying to replace Bochy/Guillen with a good slash pairing. Thank Allah the Mets are in town for the next few days. David Wright and Jose Reyes will save me.

I’d make that trade if the Mets were paying for the rest of Reyes’ (Reyes’s? Reyeses’?) contract. I love Cain, but he’s a #2 starter for the Giants (while being a #1 for most teams), and if there’s a potential superstar to be traded from the Giants, I’d rather it be Cain than Lincecum.

Isn’t the White Sox system pretty bare after the Swisher trade?

wow, i didnt expect as many replies. Well anyway it was just a thought, however, I would support such a move although the stadium would be pretty much bare after it.

However sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet. Rebuild the team now or later.

Really?

Both members of the Durhammy fan club would stop showing up? And Randy Winn’s three cousins? I don’t think attendance will drop much if they go, and I’m sure most at the yard wouldn’t really notice.
