What is the rule?

I notice that a player can receive a 50 game suspension and not serve the 50 games. Take Alfonzo for example. Tested positive in January but appealed the findings so was allowed to play until he lost the appeal. Started his 50 game suspension on May 1 putting his 50 game time somewhere around April 28th  but by June 11th he is playing on a rehab assignment for Augusta. Does anyone know the rule? Is it 50 games before he can play with the team he was on when he got the suspension or what. Not that it matters one way or another but he wasn't injured so where does the rehab come in and how can it come in before the 50 game period.

I don't know...

...but I did see something in the Murky News describing his Augusta stint as “approved rehab”. That suggests he hasn’t served the full suspension, since it wouldn’t need to be approved if he had…
