Giants Dominate Minor League All-Star Roster
Four of San Jose's five representatives come from the California League's best pitching staff. The Giants' 2.96 team ERA is nearly a run better than that of Stockton and Modesto, and San Jose's nine shutouts also lead the league. Tim Alderson (6-2, 3.27 ERA), Jesse English (8-2, 2.84 ERA), Kevin Pucetas (7-0, 2.54 ERA) and Ben Snyder (6-2, 2.31 ERA) will all make the trip east. The four San Jose hurlers constitute half of the league's eight best ERAs, and English is tied for the league lead with his eight wins.
Throw in Pablito and Steve Decker managing and the future looks bright baby!!
Comment starter: Would you watch a team like the Greenjackets or the SJ Giants on TV? I sure would. How do we get this to happen??

Hell yes I would watch minor league baseball on television. Need a broadcaster? I’ll do it.

There will be too many comments like “Oh. my. God. What is that girl wearing in the first row? No one wants to see your tramp stamp.”
Although recipes during pitching changes would be benficial.

Not on air. Now if you were hanging out in the booth you’d hear a constant stream of profanity and catty commentary before “and we’re back. Tim Alderson has retired the last eight batters he’s faced….” I do have a semblance of professionalism.

I would love to watch some milb on TV
I can’t imagine that the metrics are there to justify such a thing, however.

It wouldn't take much
To get feeds going on the internet. That is probably the easiest way.

I know for a fact Sacramento has one. We had a piss poor video feed of the plate on a press box TV when I was there a few years ago. We have the technology.

I’ve never seen one at a Sally stadium or Carolina League and I don’t believe at an EL stadium which is most of minor league viewing of late.

I'm hoping
the new MLB channel will air some minor league games, and for the love of pete please air Arizona Fall League and every winter league game they can find! I hate those long months without baseball. Back when I had Comcast, I would get Fox Sports Espanol, and I could at least watch some of the Dominical Winter League in spanish, but since I moved to Dish Network, I don’t have that channel anymore. Total bummer when the only sports are NBA and NHL. Though I do have my Jayhawks to cheer me up.

Rank Your Top 4 SJ Pitching All-Stars!
1. Tim Alderson – Gets the top spot because he’s “holding his own” in the Cal league as a young’un.
2. Jesse English – 5th in the Cal by K%. Once diminished prospect star is shining again, stay healthy!
3. Ben Snyder – 7th in K%, a finesse guy but I love Snyder. Supposed to have a nice, slow, curve ball. Has the best command of our four starters.
4. Kevin Pucetas – Finesse righty that’s proved himself every step of the way and will have to continue proving himself.

Ben Snyder
Love this guy. Snyder has an assortment of pitches. Gets lots of groundouts. He will turn 23 yrs old in July. Hope to see him pitching for Connecticut soon.

Anyone else hoping Snyder can be our new Lowry?

Reach for the stars
was hoping Tom Glavine
by wilriv21 on Jun 11, 2008 2:54 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Glavine works too. Basically a quality LHP who can go 200 innings and win 12-14 games would be excellent. Especially for a 12th round pick.

Problem with being a Glavine clone
or even a Reuter clone (as we Giants fans are prone to see in people) is that the days when you could spend an entire day throwing the ball two to three inches off the plate and thrive are, thank god, pretty well gone.

Snyder
I would move Ben Snyder ahead of Jesse English because he is a year younger than Jesse. 20-year-old Clayton Tanner didn’t make the All-Star team, but aside from Tim Alderson, he might still be the best pitching prospect at San Jose—except for Henry Sosa, of course. Due to injury, Henry didn’t make the All-Star team, but aside from Alderson, he likely is the best pitching prospect there.

Honestly, I’d only watch it occasionally. If someone special is pitching or if a hghly touted prospect like AnVil just moved up, I’d tune in, but “Mrs. Goofus” would probably make herself “Ex-Mrs. Goofus” the first time I said, “We can’t go out tonight, San Jose is playing Stockton.”

Actually you can....
watch on MiLB, but only select games. There was an Augusta game on earlier this year, MadBum’s first start in fact. Unfortunately it costs 30$ for the year and judging from the MiLB schedule, it’s extremely slim pickings. For example there are only three games on the schedule tonight and they’re all Triple A games. If I knew I could watch at least one Giant Affiliate per night I’d pay that money, but the reality is I’d have to pay for the opportunity to watch Justin Leone once a month.

I have
a HiDef TV that I practically took out another mortgage on to get four years ago. I have everything DirecTV has to offer, and it’s a ton of stuff. With the amount of money I spend on TV I will be damned if I’m relegated to watching MiLB on my laptop. Something needs to be done about this.
i’m definitely big on Winter Ball. That would be the perfect medicine for a rainy Tuesday night in December.

Nice
Actually the plasma has been wasted on watching Dora the Explorer and Yo Gabba Gabba lately. I’m a fraud.

Yo Gabba Gabba
Anything with Biz Markie can’t be a waste of time. It’s just not possible.
Dora however…grating and annoying.
