Atkins?

Please Sabean do something logical and make this team attractive for Mark Cuban to buy and call O'Dowd and see if the package of Valdez and Sanchez would be enough to snag Atkins. the Rox are supposivley "activaley shopping" Atkins to make room for Ian Stewart. For us we fianlly get a long term solution to a corner infielder with some pop. The best part about Atkins is that he can play 1st/3B. For the Rockies they finally have another decent strater to go along with Aaron Cook and a stud reliver. They could flip fuentes for more prospects but that is there thing to worry about. We are giving up talent but getting back a much neede corner infielder

i say we keep sanchez and valdez

before the season i would be all over this trade because i wasnt very high on sanchez as a starter.. but after a couple 10 K games, i donno if i would want to part with him. valdez looks legit too

Look at Atkin's non-Coors stats

he’s decent, but not as great as he is at Coors. He’s really a 1B, too.

Also, there won’t be an intra-division trade like that. Stewart is struggling at AAA and it isn’t clear that he’s the future at 3B in Colorado – at least he’s not the present.

Bonds stands alone.

he’s actually hit more homers on the road than at home these last two years, but I would rather hold my nose and sign Joe Crede as a FA next year than trade Sanchez and Valdez within our division.

Keep your hands off my pitchers whose names end in Z...

As much as I would love to get a decent hitter, I am not willing to part with Sanchez or Valdez, let alone both of them. Plus the thought of seeing those guys dominate us on Colorado’s team just makes my stomach turn.

We are in need of hitters, but as painful as it is, we need to weather the storm. It is going to suck for a couple years, but when we make it through and have the most dominant pitching staff in the league we will forget all about these days.

I think I pulled my swagger muscle...

what about the ones

whose last name start with a Z?

Meh

I wouldn’t mind Atkins I guess. His diet was just a fad, but it did help some people lose weight. It would be good for Benji and Tyler. And I guess he’s a pretty good hitter.

I wouldn’t want to give up Sanchez for him, however. So no deal on my part.

I have the sneaking suspicion that Armando killed Dr. Atkins with an intricate Cold War plot that consisted of Apple Jacks, Falafels and Squeeze-Its.

Don't think it's just a fad...

My girlfriends mom was on that diet this winter. Of course everything seems to be popular here later with the parents.

Didn’t he die from heart problems that were likely associated with his diet, or something like that?

It’s seriously not healthy.

Heart Attack

Yes, that isn’t a good endorsement for your diet.

The Rockheads?

Don’t the Rockies realize that Ian Stewart’s stats are inflated by playing in Colorado Springs? Don’t the Giants (and other teams) realize Garrett Atkins’ stats are inflated by playing in Denver?

Garrett has hit .276/.346/.446/.792 away from Coors Field. Yes, that tons better than Jose Castillo, but IMO it isn’t worth Sanchez and Valdez.

Wow

I didn’t realize I was that good away from Coors field! It totally felt like I was putting up AAAA numbers the whole time I was doing it.

Very Bad Idea

There are at least 3 reasons this is a bad idea.

1. Atkins is not nearly enough for those two arms.
a. His road numbers are not that good.
b. He is 29 and can’t play Center.

2. We are not building for now, so we would trade for top shelf prospects not a veteran.

3. Why would we put Sanchez and Valdez in CO where we would have to face them 19 times a year?
