Open Gameday Thread 2.0
When I went to college the first time, if the game wasn't televised, I would need to leave the CNN Headline News ticker on to follow the score from home.
Now, I'm in the middle of a class, listening to a professor yammer about something to do with Carthage or Edgar Allen Poe or genomes or something, and MLB Gameday just told me that Matt Cain's changeup just broke seven inches downward.
Progress is great. Still, don't get me started on how uncool my CD collection is now compared to that first time in college. I feel cheated.

Except that would be 21 years for me. Can’t beat the sound quality from a good turntable and good speakers.

Some stuff never makes it to CD.
And while I’m spending DAYS on Limewire you’re screwed there two ways: Modern recordings are saturated bcuz the engineers know you’re playing thru PC speakers…and you’re subject to what somebody else likes – which might not be what you like , and vice versa.

Yea...
New recordings fail…mp3s take off the high and low end of tracks and now songs are being produced so mp3s don’t hack off a lot, just making the entire song a worse quality.

Oh, man, am I ever the creepy older guy in college. It’s given me a lot of material for my non-McC writing projects.
But 25 ain’t nothing for law or MBA. It’s a huge difference in, say, a Poli Sci 101 class.

One thing I love about San Jose State and what made me choose them as my first choice is that the undergrad stuff really accomodates the working adult, and not just for business or finance programs. They really understand that not everyone is cut out for college at 18, not everyone can afford it right away, and not everyone is happy with what they picked right out of high school. There, the atittude is “hey, you wanna learn? Great. We have it for you.”
It’s how me, a 26 year old dumb little girl who never had shit in her life, can still have dreams of doing all the extra curriculars, excelling in political science, and getting on with her life. Sure, I’ll be the old bitch at the parties, but who gives?

I’m starting there Fall 2009. I’m really excited. Of course, if Stanford takes me, I’m going there. But that’s less than a snowball’s chance in hell and SJSU was my first choice all along. I guess it’s a good thing that people mistake me for a 19 year old all the time…

I’m really looking forward to getting into sports journalism at SJSU. The boxing and judo programs are really intriguing and the men’s club hockey team is highly ranked. Would be cool to branch out from covering baseball, there.

It is. Part of the reason I’m so far behind is because I dicked around for two years at CC before I realized I was going nowhere that way. Plus I had to work fulltime out of HS to support the family, and didn’t even get started in college untl I was 20. So yeah. What matters is just doing it.
