Because I don’t really follow the NL… So you can disregard if you like… I found this not at the bottom of an unrelated blog entry.

If nothing else, it probably reinforces that the whispers are being heard around all of baseball,

It should also be noted...

The author of that article, Mark Gonzales, covered the Giants for the Merc from the time Magowan took over until 2000, so he probably has some solid local contacts. Still, pretty shocking no local paper has reported this, if it’s true.
